What pipe is this

A old friend gave me this. Just says Italy on the bottom.

Bucket pipe. Probably it is made by Savinelli, but that doesn't make it a Savinelli, as they make many other pipe brands in their factory as well.

Otherwise known as an Italian basket pipe. Because there might be a pile of them in a basket at the shop. You fish through for one you like and pay a pittance . Finishing and shaping on the stummel and stem are often quick and dirty. They didn’t waste any extra time on them at the factories. Sometimes the airway needs opening up. But some of them are pretty good. Quality can vary widely.

I've had great luck with basket pipes. Only bought a few and always because they caught my eye.
