I rely on greed as a reliable motivator for human behavior.

When I did my Will and Trust I stipulated that there was significant monetary value in the tobacco holdings and vintage pipes and name a conservative estimate of the collection's value as an asset and left instructions for it to be sold.

Given what I've witnessed in the secondary pipe tobacco market recently I'd say that my estimate was very conservative indeed!

I am too young for a will, and hope my daughters never smoke. I any case what i have at the moment wouldn’t be worth more than US$1000 so I suspect my wife would give it all to my one pipe smoking friend. I expect and hope she’d save my own home carved pipes.
That or a Viking burial, nevermind the fact I have exactly 0% Scandinavian blood.

Not wanting to pass on an addiction. My wife and I family's only smokers so my kids have been told to keep any pipes for sentimental reasons but to throw away anything remaining.

Greek law gives 25% to the spouce and 75% to kids, Swiss law gives an equal share to spouce and kids so it depends on where I croak, hopefully not for many years from now ;) Private pension contributions are prescribed by me to go to my kids.

Already have given away several pipes to a good friend...the rest and the tobacco will go to him also. The Irish Condor Plug (if there is any left) will go to StevieB or Condor.

Wise to point out the value of the "collection" and maybe leave an envelop with instructions. Otherwise everything goes to he dumpster or the flea market where someone else figures out a better fair value. Even a basic collection could bring a few hundred, and a good collection a few thousand, and some of the collections on here are really investment portfolios and should be managed as such. The proceeds on some of these would be the downpayment on a substantial yacht.

I downsized quite a bit to become more of a minimalist. Whatever is left will go to my son. I set him up with a nice Peterson Sigot and he loves it.
