I could see a chianti or malbec working with a cigar, but definitely not pipes. Only real problem I can think of, beyond the obvious poor choices, is a very hoppy beer, which I'm not a fan of in the first place. Apple cider does sound really good, which is odd because other fruit products really don't.

I've tried tea, coffee and cappuchino so far, but at the end it is all up to you, what seems good for one can seem horrible for other.

1. sweet tea (hot or iced)

2. black coffee (especially with Virginia flakes)

3. ice water
Red wine tastes like ash tray juice when paired with a pipe. Yuck!

I steer away from non-alcoholic sweet drinks in general when smoking my pipe.

As for liquor... neat.

Coffee; hot. Tea, and that beloved chemical, that corrosive liquid that can be fatal if inhaled... dyhydrogen-monoxide... cold.

Wine, mead, beer... I might smoke between glasses.

Not in line with what not to drink, but, I enjoyed some 'Gloria Jean's Hazelnut' coffee from my Keurig. From most of what I read here, perhaps I won't bother with carbonated drinks.

I enjoy rye and coke, and never had an issue while smoking my pipe. I did not know that alcohol can destroy the protective lining in your mouth. I will keep that in mind.

Dont like hard liquor or anything sweet with the pipe, only tea or a non-hoppy beer.

Nothing sweet, including diet sodas, but that has nothing to do with the pipe; just don't like them. Don't care much for tea, either, but, again, nothing to do with the pipe. A nice Cabernet, Merlot, or Malbec wine works for me; white wines don't. A good single malt Scotch or Bourbon can also work, but the "clear" liquors don't. Neither does beer, for me. Strong black coffee in the morning is nice, with the right tobacco, usually a burley blend.

I don't know, I had an excellent malbec with Peterson's 2012 Summertime blend the other night, and the combo was most pleasing. Very well suited for each other.

I like to drink iced mint tea, coffee, or water with my smoke. As far as alcohol, I've found that a sweet white wine, such as Moscato is pleasing, as well as my mother's homemade Apple Brandy (room temp).
I'll agree with pretty much everybody else - anything carbonated burns the crap out of my mouth. I tried to drink a beer with my pipe....once. I don't drink soda/pop, so I don't have to worry about steering clear of those beverages.

I definitely stay away from soda.
I prefer either Earl Grey tea, regular iced tea or water. Sometimes a good Bourbon but not often.

Like others for me it's wine. I love a nice dry red, but paired with tobacco(cigar or pipe) to me the wine tastes like dirt. I'm fine with tea/coffee/scotch/beer/rum/water.

A nice glass of southern iced tea is about all I will drink while smoking. Alco beverageds ruin the taste of the smoke of vise versa.

I smoke and drink coke. I know most people say it's terrible, but I've done it, and will do it again. Mostly it's scotch, however. And I rotate in coffee, tea, and wine. But, the only really bad smoking drink I've found.....is milk!
