It looks like they were trying for a Talking Heads vibe/look.

Never really thought about that @ssjones but I can see what you mean. They were a lot more "out there" than the talking heads and obviously not as talented but they were a cool and mostly overlooked band from that time period. They were sort of punk/jazz. And yeah Debbie Harry was my first celebrity crush.
