Man, good choice. I love Angelo Badalamenti as I also love David Lynch's work. Anyone know when the new Twin Peeks is to be released?
Also, you ever listen to Bohren & Der Club of Gore? If you like the Angelo Badalamenti tunes you've got to check these guys out: Bohren & Der Club of Gore They took his style and ran with it.

The Lower Forty of Hill Country
"Blossom Dearie - Six Classic Albums," a collection of the discs that she made between 1957 and 1961 for Norman Granz's Verve Records. Ms. Dearie (1924-2009) was an American club/cabaret jazz singer and pianist. She was backed on a number of the tracks here by Herb Ellis (guitar) and Ray Brown (bass), both of whom were members of The Oscar Peterson Trio, and together they make for some fine, fine listening.

@JBC: It's been a long, long time since I listened to HC (pun intended). Even though I'd have to rate it as probably the second weakest album of his classic period (next to Empty Sky) it's still good.
@hawky454: In case you missed it, there's a Twin Peaks thread going here:

@huntertrw: Blossom Dearie's a trip:

Super Geriatric Classic Rock Concert in LA & NY This Summer
For any of you in those locals willing to brave the crowds and pay the (I assume) astronomical ticket prices:
Together in concert: Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Steely Dan, Journey, Earth, Wind & Fire, Doobie Brothers (and I think Tom Petty as well but he's not mentioned here)

Alice Coltrane: Journey in Satchidananda

Wife of John Coltrane and one of the very few who applied the harp to jazz music-- bet you've never heard harp played like this!

@Beef: The combination of your post and that Elton/Bernie song Ticking, reminded me of this Chapin song which is based on Charles Whitman, the "Texas Tower Sniper". I even wonder if this may have been an influence on Bernie to write Ticking.
Also, Chapin's performance here is probably the most intense I've ever seen by anyone.

Brian- Been away from the computer for a few days......... my apologies........

Damn! That Harry C. performance is GREAT! I've not seen that one before, and yes, I would believe that HC's song had to have some influence..... too many similarities for it not to. Amazing that these great songwriters read the future like they did.......... I miss the great singer/songwriters........... Good stuff for sure...... :puffy:
