I was ecstatic when this came out. Unfortunately Drew Zingg’s guitar tone on this record is like nails on a chalk board to me. The playing is great but the tone kills my ears.

That said I’ll give it another listen, it’s been years.

Last night my wife and I had a Long Play session. Put on the record player some awesome music pulled out of the shelves, played out loud. To begin with Pete Townshend “White City”, Johnny Guitar Watson “Funk beyond the Call of Duty”, then Violent Femmes “The Blind Leading the Naked”, David Bowie “Lodger”, a wildly underrated genius work, and in the middle of the night almost the whole Prince “Sign of the Times”. For jazz lovers we are, that really was an unusual compilation.

Remember Liquid Television? I used to enjoy shows like The MAXX, Aeon Flux, and The Head. When they stopped playing music videos, I completely lost interest.

First song on MTV was The Buggles - Video Killed The Radio Star. First song on MTV Europe was Dire Straits - Money For Nothing, which references MTV.

MTV used to be so cool. I remember the first time I saw Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit video on MTV. They played that song to death - which I didn't mind one bit.

Last time I checked out MTV it was awash with shitty reality shows.
