I discovered Steely Dan in college and proceeded to buy most/all of their albums. Royal Scam/Aja!! Ecstasy. I can think of jazz collararies, but in rock nobody but nobody beats the cool intelligence and deft musicality of their work. When I listen to them I cruise LA highways with the top down and the night air my companion.

Well said. SD are a truly original and incomparable American musical treasure.
Was very sad to see Walter go so soon...there can never be another SD album now. But their body of work can be listened to indefinitely without ever getting old.
