Badbriar asked an interesting question in his thread "Are We Really Losing That Much With The Closures of MacBaren and Sutliff”"
So while having coffee this morning I logged into tobaccoreviews and did a search to see just what the Sutliff Tobacco Company manufactures for other brands/labels/tobacconist. I've tried being as accurate as possible.

That's it? Wow! That's nothing. I was worried for a moment.

Honestly, I was at the butcher's buying pork tenderloin. I had nothing to do with it.
That reminds me. I need to grab a few roasts.

On a fixed budget since September. No more pipes or tobacco for me. I've got enough to last over 40 years at my current rate of use.
I'm just horsing around. I'll get a nice cellar going one day. I'm still trying to find what I really like. I'm just pissy because a few of the things I found I liked this summer are gone. There's plenty of other stuff out there to try.

I guess i am a little confused on the subject. I understand the Sutliff side of things, but what about the blends that Mac Baren made for private labels? Saw a list floating around reddit that was far more broad list of blends that were going to be discontinued

What about Hearth & Home blends that were already made by STG, specific example: Viprati? I'm assuming 'retired' along with the whole H&H line, because, Tobaccopalypse 2025.

Newminister
Holger Danske

Amphora
Charatan
Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation

Gurhka
Missouri Meerschaum (some)

Why would STG quit making blends for other companies? If they didn't meet their production metric, why would they have been making them at all. I suppose that STG might discontinue some contracts, but if this activity is profitable why would they cease doing it?
I suppose the answers will come in the next year or two. COmpanies will then have to look for other sources, and there are other sources.

I didn't have time to dive into the different blends made by MacBaren. I may do that some other time.
Fortunately, for me, most of the tobacco I have been smoking for the past four years are manufactured by Kopp (formerly known as Kohlhase & Kopp) and Dan Tobacco.

I'm happy as long as STG doesn't get the opportunity to buy either of them.
And what about other companies sourcing their tobacco from STG? Where does Dan, Kopp, etc get their blending tobacco?
Do you mean "sourcing their tobacco from Sutliff?"
IF STG is selling tobacco to other companies and making money doing it, I doubt that they would stop.

The Amphora pouches were good stuff. People assume a pouch is crap but Mac Baren did a great job with those blends. High quality broken flake with minimal flavoring for the most part. And if you ever wanted to know what second-hand pipe smoke smelled like in the 1980's just try Full Aroma.
Amphora Virginia was a favorite of mine when I was just starting out. Sad to see them go.
