I have so many tobaccos I'm looking forward to popping but making myself smoking down stuff I have no intention of cellaring.
CnD autumn evening, BnM Shanondoah, Sutliff Night Cap, Sutliff VA slices, Sutliff Apple and a few others.
I like some these well enough, but want to clear some jars to further justify TAD.

If I don't care for a blend I jar it and move on. I make a note to try it again in a year. Your taste change and with time you may enjoy it more down the road.
When I first started smoking I didn't care for Perique. Now some of my favorite blends have some Perique in them. I can take the time to enjoy those blends. If I had just smoked my jar away I wouldn't have purchased more and would have been missing a lot of great tobacco.

I wish I were that dedicated! Early on, I would keep trying to smoke some jars down before opening another tin. This turned out to be futile. I have hundreds of jars outside of my cellar that I will pull from as the mood strikes me.

My cellar of 200+ pounds is to be smoked at any given time. Any aging that happens is just because I haven't gotten around to smoking them. Cellaring tobacco to me is just hoarding tobacco for a time when I can no longer afford it.

I have lots of extra Jars, but am trying to smoke down some tobacco I don't like that much. Culling the herd before i have a bunch of jars I will never smoke.

Embers... If I'm not mistaken, wasn't your name ChasingEmbers at one point or am I just tripping? I've been AWOL for a bit.

I have a lot of jars that I'm not crazy about the blend right now but ya never know how you'll receive them in a couple of years from now. If I've learned anything from pipe smoking, never write off a blend forever, in a few years they could be some of your favorite blends. I just put them back in the cellar if I'm not smoking it regularly at the moment. I never force myself to smoke down jars I'm not fond of just to open up another tin, life is too short for that, I would just open up the tin you're looking forward to right now, ya may not be around tomorrow.

My situation lies somewhere in between. Trying to wipe out fragments left over from jarring and a bunch of acquired "sample" lots, while stacking up enough tins and jars to get me to end of days regardless of political climate.
I do have numerous blends I can't wait to try, but am resisting opening them until the mess is pared down a bit.

I have 40 or so jam jars with remnants. I haven't opened a tin in three months. Still working my way through those.

Finishing up a few more bowls of JackKnife Plug so I can replace it with McB HH Bold Kentucky. I have quite a bit of JKP but I’m letting it age a bit more. Haven’t tried Bold Kentucky yet. Also have a jar of McB HH ODF I substitute for something lighter.
Next will probably be my Dunhill DNR just to clear up some space and by then it’s Virginia season. Got an ounce of McClelland 5115 that needs to be smoked and probably will put a tin of MacBaren Navy Flake from January ‘15 in it.

I'm currently working on about 20 jars in rotation that I really want to smoke through before I open some more tins but my willpower just isn't there...
Than another part of me says "who cares". Just smoke what I want, whenever I want. Open a hundred tins and be happy!
I think Ball Jar stock is going up based on my lack of willpower over the last year.

I always try to finish my tins in reasonable time. I don't jar them. I have a few jars of latakia blends that don't appeal to me ATM. Other than that I have about 8-10 opened tins that I am smoking from. I'm going to narrow that down to maybe 6. I want it simple. I want to finish a pouch of Amphora Full Aroma and not buy it again. The same with a tin of 3 Nuns and a tin of OGS.

The only real resolution I made for the New Years is to smoke up what I had open on Dec. 30 before I open (or buy) any new tobacco. I had roughly 9 small mason jars and one tin opened. I'm probably averaging two bowls a day but I hope to have most of this finished by the end of February.

My cellar which is roughly half jars, is taking up enough space so I'm also trying to limit what gets put into new jars. Otherwise, I get to feeling too cluttered up. I just polished off a jar of Doblone d'Oro, a few Watch City blends and a jar of FVF but I love FVF so much, I opened another. I don't really consider myself too much of a fanboy of any one blend but that stuff is truly fantastic. If anyone has an idea of something comparable, I'd like to know what it is.

OTOH, 200 pounds sounds a bit like—uh, plenty.
I slowed way down last year and have only been refilling gaps.

I shortened it to prevent typos that made me sound like a forum stalker.

2/3s of what I cellared I never smoked. I kept waiting for the right time that never came. But it did pay off when I sold my cellar.
