What is your most expensive pipe ,why'd you buy it & do you regret it?

Come to think of it, I've never regretted buying any pipe. A few I've traded off, but learned something

each time. I've never spent enough on a pipe I traded to lament the cost, though I came close. I've given

a few away to friends. Luckily, the ones that have cost the most have turned out well.

I guess one of my expensive pipes was a this limited edition (235/300) L Viprati handmade I bought on EBay for about $185.00. Its a beautiful pipe but I generally buy pipes to smoke and not collect. I got caught up in the beauty of this pipe but it is simply to large for me, a huge bowl. I have never smoked it. I will trade it off one day for another pipe that I can smoke.

I have about 30 pipes now and pleased with all of them with the exception of this monster...lol.

I have an Ashton and a Dunhill that are my most expensive. I love both of them and I do not regret the Ashton but I wished I had not paid so much for a newer Dunhill when the cheaper estates are superior and cheaper. I only bought the Dunhill on a whim at the shop on the Las Vegas strip after a small win in blackjack (not enough to cover the pipe) and more than a few glasses of wine. I actually prefer smoking my $100 range pipes because I can move around freely while smoking them without fear of breaking them. I have some Chacom's, Savinelli's, and English Ben Wade's that give me a comparable smoke without the anxiety!

Lol my most expensive pipe is a Peterson Shackelton explorer series, I got it for 60$ at a B&M while I was in Calgary that was closing down and the store owner's mother was the most persistent salesperson ever. It was funny because when she told her son she was selling it to me for what was going to be 50$ (her price) he dropped his jaw and was like mom, I paid more for it than that, it's below retail, it's got a sterling silver band!! So he was like well will you give me 60$? And I said sold. Then I went online and found the exact same pipe selling for around 250$ new, so no, I don't regret it. Only pipe I've bought new.
