Cigars make up 90% of my smoking these days......and it's been awhile since I've smoked a pipe with any consistency. So I'm somewhere in between novice & experienced (closer to novice). There are times when I prefer to sit & relax with a pipe....like on a fishing trip....when I just want to grab a tin (or pouch) and enjoy a smoke without having to worry about "properly aged" tobacco or difficulty with packing a flake or weird cut. So with that in mind, what would be 3 tobacco's you'd grab to take on a weekend fishing trip to enjoy that would be great out of the tin and easy to smoke (as far as packing and keeping lit, etc). Not necessarily your favorite tobacco....just a high quality leaf that is well behaved and ready on the fly....fresh out of the tin. I currently have no cellared tobacco

Aromatic, VA blend or a Codger blend. Maybe a light English....I can only take Latakia in small doses.

Dunbar + Tilbury used to be my go to blends but....you know......
I did enjoy Squadon Leader....

For codger blends Prince Albert and Granger are both good for a gravity fill and light and minimal fiddling.

Mac Baren Vanilla Cream and Mixture Scottish are both somewhat Va forward with actual tobacco flavor but a sweet room note.

C&D Winchester is a great all around blend and somewhat codgery. Perfect cut for gravity fill or codger scoop and go. There are a lot of C&D blends that fall into this category.

Usually Carter Hall. I picked up a bag of Smoker's Pride Classic Blend a while back and it's similar, but definitely lower quality leaf and with a weird top note. That in a cob has become my "grab and go" baccy when I want a smoke but don't want to think too much about it. Don't think I'll buy more when the bag is finished. I reserve my higher quality leaf for when I have the time and disposition to appreciate it.

Benson & Hedges Special Virginia Ready Rubbed is what I grab if I'm bringing my pipe out with me. It smokes better dry but I've had great smokes from the pouch too. It's also the easiest tobacco for me to get so I usually save all my other ones for smoking at home haha

Cabbie's. It's #1 still.

In the past, I've taken Squadron Leader, Skiff, Germain's Brown Flake, Germain's Gold Leaf, FVF or St Bruno when I've gone out for any length of time - once, C&D Blockade Runner - but nowadays, Cabbie's. It won.

I dont often smoke on the run but if I did it would be any tobacco that lights fairly easy and does not require prep.

Directors Cut
Makhuwa
Old Gowrie if I had it would be great

It would be more about ease than going for a lesser smoke and most of what I smoke is pretty easy to light and maintain. When I do go for a weekend I will pack a quick pipe bag with 2 small containers of different blends I pull from the jar.

Spain - Europe
The last trip I made, I took Capstan Gold and Pirate Cake. But always some cigars, since it is less laborious when smoking suddenly. At my in-laws' house I already have a few ounces of tobacco, some boxes of cigars, a cigar cutter, lighters, etc. For when we go away for a long period of a month or 15 days, since it is more than 1000 kilometers away. The north west of Spain still preserves the traditional, more conservative, and bohemian spirit. But you hardly see anyone smoking a cigar, and even fewer with a pipe.

Cabbie’s mixture sounds very good. But I’m afraid it’s as readily available as Dunbar & Tilbury 😂
