I usually have my I pad next to me and use Pandora... Lately a lot of Eric Satie or Django, but nothing is out of the question...

I also love listening to Car Talk from NPR...

Anthony, I'm with you. My favorite tune is "The Mummer's Dance." In fact, anything Celtic, modern or classical, goes with pipe smoking.

Mostly anything but Mumford & Son's is good pipe music. So is Above & Beyond. Two different ends of the music scale, I know.

I really like listening to late 60's and early to mid 70's Fusion Jazz when I'm smoking. Especially Bitches Brew by Miles Davis, Heavy Weather by Weather Report and anything by Herbie Hancock from that era. I don't always get to listen to this music when I smoke, but it seems to just taste and "feel" better when I do!

Ok well mood matters. But I hate classical, I dont think these modern orchestras capture the true intent of the writer. Because it just never sounds good. No hip hop, or rap, and pop music is right out. Out side of that , its all mood from folk and bluegrass too black metal.
Oh, and I dont know what "h- word " is being refered to to keep to myself.

In looking at the title of the topic, the only music that came immediately to mind that I associated with pipes was a pipe organ, though that would be a far, far cry from being my favorite ... perhaps that's because when smoking, I find I either watch something on TV or read a book and can't remember ever putting on music ... maybe I'll have to give that a try and see how it turns out.

For me it just depends on my mood. Sometimes its Classic Rock, Hard Rock, Blues Rock, but mainly it's Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal, Death Metal, Black Metal, N.W.O.B.H.M., Power Metal, Progressive Metal, Folk Metal, Viking Metal, Doom Metal, Gothic Metal, etc. Pretty much anything Metal.

either scottish instrumental stuff or bands like "the civil wars" or ben harper, or ben howard. So I guess folky/ singer songwriter stuff.

The Album Leaf, Sigur Ros, Explosions in the Sky, is what I listen to while relaxing with a pipe.
If I am listening to music then this. Or something like Sufjan Stevens, Damien Jurado, etc. But often I just listen to nature.

I like music, everything from Oscar Peterson to Ralph Stanley to Wanda Landowska doing Bach on harpsichord.

I guess my all time favorite pipe music are night noises off the front porch, or at the beach, etc.

I listen to whatever I'm in the mood to listen to lol. I don't like rap or dance music or anything like that. Mostly Classic rock for an everyday blend (pun intended :P )
