Black House can be transcendent in the right briar, it's as complex and nuanced as any tobacco I've ever smoked. Imagine walking through an Arabian Bazaar in Baghdad circa 1000 ad., there is the smell of well worn saddle leather, pungent spicy wood smoke, perfumed insense, a bit of barn stall, a little bit of sweaty animal hair, a tangy sweetness and finally the gathering of all these tastes produces a sense memory that cannot be beat. It's a masterpiece by Russ Oulette in my opinion!

Just cracked a tin of OJK from 2001. Probably the most nuanced blend I have encountered aside from old out of production oriental and latakia blends.

The original post asks for the most complex blend you've smoked, so this is slightly off the subject, but some single-leaf tobaccos have a lot of intricacy, if not exactly the complexity of a blend. For those who like burleys, the Tabac-Manil Semois burley variant, in thick or medium cut, to me, has a lot of flavor going on, if you like this leaf and can smoke it deliberatively and have the taste for it. It's not like Nightcap or C&D Super Balkan, but it definitely does changes and variations through the course of a bowl. Some like and some hate it, and some are indifferent, but if you happen to savor it, it definitely has a lot going on in the flavor and nuance departments.

For me, blends I would put in the "very complex" column would include:
Pipeworks & Wilke No.10

Pipeworks & Wilke Highhat

SPC Plum Pudding

GLP's Haddo's Delight

And pretty much any of the McClelland Grand Orientals series.
And, though not my favorite of their blends, I could probably add Peretti's Pride of Loch Lomond to that list.
Probably a few more I'm forgetting.

I do smoke a lot of different tobaccos, and the most complicated blend I smoke is, by far, this one -

Since Herb Motzek sold the shop last Spring, I haven't seen the rope being offered. So I'm wondering if it's gone for good. That would be a shame as it is a great blend. Luckily, I got to participate in a group buy of the last Motzek produced batch, so I'm good for good. We operated like a precision machine. The money was collected in hours and we were in and out before others found out it was available.

Great thread, I love these kinds of topics. The most complex smoke that I've recently fallen in love with is Samuel Gawith's Lakeland Dark. That's stuff is mind blowingly complex and has notes of leather, cedar, coffee, cocoa, chocolate and maybe some pine all woven into a beautiful tapestry.

I love the complexity, yet balance of Samovar. Unfortunately, once my stash is gone, it's gone forever.

Peretti Cuban Mixture for sure. Marvelous stuff!

Lately I've really been enjoying Watch City Cigars Deluxe Crumb Cut as (for me) a really complex blend

Gaslight never ceases to amaze me. I only smoke it about once a month, but each time I'm astounded. For me it is the mark of a great blend.
