My oldest with such a tenon has been regularly smoked for 15 years and still going strong.
We all have different experiences. I regularly use alcohol on my acrylic stems without issue for example.

I just prefer minimizing failure points and added complexities. It is a potential failure point, regardless of % failed, and that’s enough for me to not prefer it.
