I would recommend Amacher's Mixture Mild. But I believe it is a true in store Blend at Stag tobacconist in Colorado Springs.

I'll second the McClelland's Dark English. It might available in bulk where you are, which is always good when trying out new blends ($2.50 for an oz)

After going hard on Three Oaks Syrian for a week plus now (and I mean hard), I have to throw this blend up here - while the Latakia content isn't through the roof, it is certainly there, and the blend is very well balanced.

Frog Morton on the Town is a really mild one to start with. Shortcut to Mushrooms from HIS was also a really good one for me when i was switching over.

My recommendation is go to your local tobacconist that offers store made blends. I am fortunate enough to live in Baltimore, where Fader's offers a huge array of in house English blends. My neighborhood location has a "pipe bar" and smoking lounge where you can sample blends to your heart's content. I tried quite a few, was on English Blend overload, and have not even scratched the surface yet , because they offer so many variations.

I'm slowly moving into the milder English blends. I live near Boswells, so I've been able to sample JM's offerings. I don't currently care so much for the Northwoods or Countryside, just a tad too much latakia for my current sensibilities. Dan recommended "Mild English" which I tried. He mentioned in an off-hand manner the "Magnum Blend". He thought it might be a touch too strong. I was surprised to really enjoy the Magnum Blend and it has become my current go-to smoke. It is a "creamy" smoke, nice and thick. No tongue bite but still enough flavor to give it character. Give it a shot.

I like McClellands Blue Mountain, which might be a little strong but it is cool and smooth. My first foray into "English" blends was Dunhill 965, very smoky. Dunhill EMP is a little lighter. My favorite: Penzance! Hold on to the gunwales if you try that one! :puffy:

If you want some nice lighter very flavorful tobaccos try:
A. Balkan Sasieni

B. GL Pease - Westminster

C. GL Pease - Logonda

D. McClelland - 3 Oaks Syrian
These are all very good English type blends that are easy to smoke and very flavorful.
