I agree with you on so many points indianafrank. As far as filling my pipe, I very seldom think about what method is best. I just fill the bowl by whatever means gets it full best, make sure it's not over packed by testing the draw, leave it a little spongy on top, and light. Works every time. Sometimes we make our own difficulties in life. Pipe smoking shouldn't be one.
