I listen to just about anything. My parents were musicians who owned a record store so I grew up in a very musically oriented household. We have everything from Classical to Bob Marley on vinyl, it was a great place to grow up. When smoking I usually put on some acoustic music.
@Rory, I like that song you posted! If you have the time I suggest you look up Songs For A Blue Guitar by the Red House Painters and Wish The World Away by American Music Club. They are two pretty great groups that have a similar sound to what you posted. If you like them, let me know. I've got a ton of music suggestions!

While restoring, smoking, or cleaning my pipes as I sit at my desk in my office at home I will often listen to one of Brian Lamb's interviews of Shelby Foote on the C-SPAN Website. I like the sound of the South his voice, and I always learn something from him. Out of courtesy to Mr. Lamb I never saw Mr. Foote smoke during one of these interviews, but I can certainly imagine him doing so!
I also find the recordings of Bing Crosby's Kraft Music Hall programs contained in the Media Vault on BingCrosby.com to be enjoyable listening, and very conducive to pipe-smoking.

I listen to all kinds of music, 60's-70's classic rock, blues from the 20's-70's, bluegrass from all eras.

In the shop I listen to www.khyi.com it's a local (Dallas) Independant country station. I think a lot of the fans of alt-country and classic country will appreciate it and you can stream it live 24/7.

Texas music, Alt country, Americana, Outlaw country, Bluegrass, all the good stuff.

"We don't play Shania Twain or AC/DC, cause none of that is country to us!"

@lonestar: I just checked out that radio station that you shared and it's really great! I can't stand mainstream country music, but I'm loving this classic country line-up. Thanks for sharing!

Cool ! Glad you are enjoying it Ruger. They don't just play classic stuff, some of the Americana they play just barely classifies as country. But what they don't ever play is crap or Pop (same difference).

The cool thing is they are independant and the Dj gets to pick what they play so you'll hear a wide range of stuff through a day. Listen long enough and they will really put you onto some good bands you've never heard (and probably won't anywhere else).

Music is definitely one of my passions. I play guitar and compose and still try to play when and where I can. I listen to music pretty much all the time and enjoy some of everything, but a good 90% is metal of some variety. Melodic death, black, and ambient are my favorite genres, but I have plenty of power, doom, metalcore, etc. Favorite bands are probably Coheed and Cambria, Carach Angren, Insomnium, Opeth, Agalloch, and Alcest. The last three are perfect for a relaxing smoke.

Basically, I listen to a lot of weird metal, mostly from Europe.

I have that XM radio and I put it on the "swing king" channel (30&40's) I thought my wife would come unglued but she was actually dancing around to the beat of it in the kitchen.

I'm glad you liked it. They're pretty depressing, but what great music isn't? I know that American Music Club just re-released a few of their albums on vinyl after being out of print for a long time. If you're into vinyl there are some great artists releasing all kinds of odd music in 10" format these days.

Like others, I have a broad range of musical interests that goes back to the 40's. I listen to all types of rock music, country, hip hop, rap. I usually stay in the rock arena though. I'm usually listening to metal though: Lamb of God, Slipknot, Pantera, Metallica, Blind Guardian, Avantasia, Helloween, Hammerfall, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, etc.
I love music in all forms, but love metal.
