What Do You Clean Horn With?

What do you clean the horn on your pipes with? I'm talking about the animal material not the plastic imitation or the shape.

Hot water? Cold water? Dish detergent? Soap? Drinking booze? Isopropyl alcohol? Wood alcohol? Leave it dirty?

I protect draft holes with a pipe cleaner. Enough goes through that hole it’s not a problem like the exterior.

Only with pipe cleaners. Occasionally I'll put a dot of mineral oil on the cleaner to moisturize the airway and prevent cracking.

I do same as ash. Occasionally will water flush a pipe with horn stem too.

I use liquid soap on a pipe cleaner, followed by copious flushing.
Finish up with a liberal caoting of Obdidian oi. Left overnight before buffing with a soft cloth.

The first of these 2 horn-stemmed pipes is from 1898. The 2nd is undated, but most probably close to a century old.
Both stems look pretty good for their age.
