Earlier in the evening - Smoked a Rocky Patel Vintage 1999 Connecticut
Recently, I've become amazed at how overlooked the Macanudo Cafe is by regular cigar smokers. I myself had a few from a sampler in my very first cigar purchase back in 2005 and was underwhelmed. I assumed it was a cigar for beginners & dabblers only, and forgot about the brand until recently when I received a very well-aged Baron de Rothschild housed in some of the brownest cello I've ever seen. The cigar had obviously been sitting for quite some time and smoking it was nothing short of a revelation - it actually reminded me a lot of the Fuente Opus Angel's Share with musty, earthy notes overlain by a creamy lemon flavor. I immediately secured some freshies which unfortunately lacked this deeply complex experience, so it appears this blend, while good in recent vintage, needs serious downtime to become the world-class smoke I enjoyed several months ago.Macanudo Cafe,Cuban coffee and Lonnie Liston Smith “Expansions” playing as I look out over the trees.
These came in about a week ago, gonna smoke a small one today, any suggestions?
1. I like Rocky Patel Vintage 1999 Connecticut - However, I may be in the minority as it’s scores are not great. In needs at least a month in the humidor in my opinion
Are those little guys Padron Corticos? If you're looking for a small smoke they're a great choice. I enjoy the LA Aroma EE quite a bit, but I understand they tweaked the blend recently and haven't tried it yet. I've always been curious about that Oliva Serie O perfecto. Something about that nearly symmetrical shape that looks so cool. These came in about a week ago, gonna smoke a small one today, any suggestions?

2. Jury is still out on Rocky Patel Vintage 1990. In my opinion it loses flavor at about 2/3 mark. (I have smoked 2 so far). Also, one of the two I smoked had such a tight draw, it might have been plugged. The first 2/3 is beautiful though.
3. I cannot read the labels of others. One looks like La Aroma De Cuba. If yes, then I had a beautiful smoke of the basic La Aroma De Cuba (The one with the red ribbon) and I think others from the same line should be very good
