If you are here on the forum, I would not consider you so.

There's an elderly gentleman down in town that smokes Captain Black Gold in a pipe he doesn't know the name of (my guess is some type of bent keywoodie or Graybow but I didn't notice any visible markings so who knows). He found it amusing that I'd even ask and he chuckled at himself that he couldn't even give me an answer.

Super nice guy, we say high to him whenever he's on his porch and we are walking the dog. Never in a million years would I bring up a pipe forum to him.

To me, that's a codger.

It's a person. There is no political symbolism in it. The hammer and sickle are not shown. Lenin was an avid cigar and pipe smoker.

Don’t take me the wrong way, I’m just chatting here, curious as to were you came up with the info you did on Lenin and smoking.

Don’t mean to take this off topic, but I am curious to see where you found historical facts to Lenin being a smoker, do you know of any, I’d like to see?

Historical data says he wasn’t a smoker, that he actually hated it, and felt it a threat to Russia, wanted to ban and limit access to it.

What’s interesting, is we have historical records in the form of photographs online that depict many famous persons throughout history, when photography became available. So we don’t actually need to read written word all the time in situations like this, and this is also good proof the photos, especially when people are questioning historical data as to whether it’s fact or fiction.

There are no pictures online of Lenin smoking, and there is no reason for history to remove these, when others that lived before him are depicted smoking.

Tsar Nicholas II smoked a pipe long before Lenin, and there are pictures of him online smoking one, as well as cigarettes.

Stalin also smoked a pipe, and there are pictures online of him smoking too.

I’ve never seen one factual/historical picture of Lenin smoking a cigar or a pipe.

P.S. @JimInks he was a cat lover, and if he was a cat lover, and a pipe smoker, my money is on Jim knowing whether or not he was a pipe smoker… 🧐

A famous cat lover and pipe smoker, Jim has to know! LOL 😄

My mistake. I'm not a Stalinist so I wouldn't use him as my picture. I just remember my Grandfather telling me tales of Lenin and cigars. He was in the Red Army during the revolution.

You gotta be a curmudgeon.

There's a codger above.. I ain't calling no names.

You also have to be kind of lovable, to be a codger, otherwise you're just an old asshole.

I was born old, which could be confused with codgerness, it's not the same condition though.

Codgers eat sardines, and shit with the bathroom door open.

They sneak Fago soda into the football game.

They have ear and nose hair issues.

Hell, I knew a codger with nose hairs growing on the outside of the nose.
Hmm. I always felt that my nose hairs blended nicely into my mustache. It gives my mustache more fullness.

Ear hair, however is more of a hassle because it feels itchy.

😂

I'm 44. I've got nearly a hundred pipes in my collection but I usually only smoke the same Donegal Rocky 107 Peterson 2-5 times daily. I've got at least 20 lbs of various tins stowed away in my cellar, yet I usually only smoke Haunted Bookshop. I've got other issues too... but I'd say I've at least got Codger tendencies.
