I was recomended it because my favorite right now is CAO Moontrance. I looked it up on tobaccoreviews.com but there are three differint companies listed as making it. I was wondering if there is more than one version of this or if it's one blender selling to multiple companies and people are just getting confused here.

Also altadis but I've never had it so I'm not sure if it is the same. Dan blue note is a good mild fruity aero.

Torben Danske, Altadis, and Dan Tobacco are all supposed to make it according to tobaccoreviews.com Dan Tobacco only has 12 reviews, while Torben has 164 of them and Altadis has 53, which is why I am confused.

The Altadis and the Dan Tobacco are different blends, same name. I've only had the Altadis, but it's a typical black cavendish blend with chocolate and perhaps caramel or amaretto.

I'm pretty sure but not positive the Dan and torben are the same. When I ordered an 8oz bag of Dan online it arrived in a torben bag.

I'll just have to try a little of each and see if I like any of them more than moontrance. Altadis is the only one that looks not good because it has the worst reviews and it also has burley in it which is something none of the others have. I don't care for burley in any blend.

While Dan Tobacco makes the original Blue Note, Altadis also makes their own version of it. Originally this was a B&M bulk buy but it was so popular they packaged it under their Tobacco Galleria line.
I like both. Of course the version by Altadis is much more wet, thus needing more drying. I think the are very similar in taste.

Also, the Altadis version (or Tobacco Galleria) version is much easier to come by. Dan Tobacco stopped using CAO as their distributor and ever since the supply of anything by Dan Tobacco comes in waves.

If they made the original & it sold like crazy how come they have next to no reviews, while another company has over a hundred (Torben Danske)?

I have not smoked the Torben Dansk version, which is probably the same as the one listed as Dan Pipes. I would guess this is the one everyone is raving about.
The Altadis, distributed under their Tobacco Galleria label, I found to actually be smokable, when I got that whole line as samples from them, long ago. Most of them I found to be crap - typical American style goopy aromatics. Fox & Hound is pretty decent, though - a light English.

@Eric - From what I have read on the history of Dan Tobacco they have changed the names of their blends many times and have actually had different names for the same blend depending on where it was sold. When they were using CAO as their distributor in the US, initially it was sold under the CAO name with no mention of Dan Tobacco on it at all. I could be wrong but just trying to answer the original post with what I knew.
And when I said by coming in waves I meant the supply comes and goes. Which it is often hard to get the Dan Tobacco Blue Note in the US and then all of a sudden it is every where.

Your right! Torben Dansk is being distributed by Dan Tobacco. I'm guessing Dan Tobacco sells the Torben Dansk blue note, which is why everyone reviews it as Torben Dansk and not Dan Tobacco, since the tins are marked big and clear Torben Dansk and not Dan Tobacco, or at least it is hard to find in the tin pictures.
Here's an excerpt from Pipedia.org:

"Torben Dansk pipes appeared in the first cataloge of DAN PIPE"
I'll try the Dan Tobacco version (Torben Dansk).

In my opinion Dan tobaco's blue not is better than Moontrance. I started like you with Moontrance as well.

I haven't tried the Moontrance yet but it has been on my list for a while. How do you compare it to Blue Note? Sweeter? Bolder?

I think the biggest difference was I got less of an ashy taste from the Blue note which allowed me to pick up more of the flavors. That put it over the top for me. I should add that I still love moontrance.
