Blackened toro. This is quite a brilliant cigar. The master blender from Blackened was once a crew member in the music scene in California and kept in touch with a founder of Metallica. They went on to collaborate on both the whiskey and this cigar. Both are knockouts.

Nice! Oliva makes a solid smoke

All the snow is gone here...

Casdagli Nicarita for the ride home

One of my favorite things about Oliva is the consistency: you know that you're going to get decent quality at a good price. Even my less-favorite Olivas (Serie V, sorry) are pretty good; the only lackluster ones (to me) are the Nubs. I didn't smoke many Olivas last year, but that will change when the weather improves.

Meanwhile, as I was finishing yesterday's CT Reserve, a bomb went off above my head. That's what it sounded like, at least: a huge slab of 3" thick ice fell onto the deck roof right above me. Ice falling is a common occurrence at this time of year, but this one shook the house, and my wife came running out to see what had happened. It certainly livened up the Oliva experience!

Punch Clasico this evening. Good smoke but not very complex.

I got one of these in the first sampler I bought, tried it in my second month of cigars, and hated it.

Tried another one year later, and thought it was pretty good. Not complex, nothing spectacular, but pleasant enough that I’m looking forward to having another, and I’ve bought a few other Punch cigars to try when/if the weather ever warms up.
