La Aroma de Cuba Edicion Especial #2 (Robusto). Mild bodied plus a bit but way short of medium. Interesting cedar and mineral notes at first but a severe bitter note developed quickly which turned into a bad bitter/earthy mushroom flavor. Pitched it a bit over an inch in as it was intolerable. No mold or any flaws obvious but something wasn't right even though it smelled fine.

Anyone have experience with this cigar or thoughts on what could be going on?

Getting into Dunbarton I listened to a bunch of Saka interviews. In one of them (sorry no link) he spoke about the "tar" we sometimes find juicing out of the foot as we smoke

He claimed that, sometimes, during the fermentation process the inside of a leaf vein will rot/decompose. He also stated there is no way to really detect this, at least until we smoke it and the vein, being a conduit, starts delivering its rotten insides to us :)

Did you notice any tar-like stuff coming your way?

Didn't notice any tar like substances. Just bitter mushroom flavor. Never heard the rotting leaf vein idea before but I suppose it is possible. Now I'll be waiting for that to happen so I can disassemble the cigar and see if I can determine the source. I'll take pictures...
