What Are Your Top Five Pipe Accessories?

I'm not disparaging your solutions. I just like to keep my pipe smoking as simple as possible and not have a lot of extraneous equipment to keep track of and fumble around with when traveling in the field. Just keeping track of all my photo gear is enough of a trial.

I didn't take it as disparaging at all! I also prefer to keep things simple and, for me at least, a good pipe roll does just that—by keeping everything (pipe, tobacco, tamper, matches, cleaners) all in one place when traveling, so it's easy to grab and nothing gets left behind.

1. Zippo pipe lighter. The trusty Bic is a good substitute but not my top choice.
2. Pipe nail. Though I have a 3 in 1 tool somewhere I've never used it.
3. Cheap wooden box/tray to contain things.
4. A tool/hardware pouch to keep these things and other odds and ends in.
5. Victorinox SAK Climber

Honorable mentions:

-Yeti stainless insulated cup for water
-As the weather changes, a knit hat my wife made for me.
-Pipe cleaners for me are just a necessary commodity like the tobacco itself, but I have fistfuls of them around for cleanup after a smoke.

This isn't by importance or degree of use, but more, what I'm impressed with and more ancillary accessories. Lighter not included because you need fire, necessary accessory, but a super nice fire source is nice, and then my IM Corona would be number 1 and my cheap Czech tool on the list too. These are more like "I'm really glad I got that".

Beyond the typical favorites (lighter, tamper, pipe cleaners), and in no particular order:
• Shank/tenon/stem brushes:

Mine are from Neerup, but several make them, those ones that are reusable metal and nylon. I want to get some for mortise and chamber. But when I deep clean stems once in a blue moon, these brushes are awesome... all scrub, no fluff.​

• Peterson Avoca 3 Pipe Combo Bag:

This bag just feels nice, and I don't care about the pouch or accessories with it one way or the other, I like it because it's well constructed, I like how securely it holds my pipes, and it's been a real boon to have when taking trips.​

• Leather tobacco mat:

I know a paper plate, a sheet of paper, or even regular plate is good enough for others, but I like the mat, it rolls up nicely to fit in a bag for taking trips, so I have a place to rub out flakes and stuff. It's also nice filling the pipe on the mat ant the mat catches anything that misses, easily folds in half to dump the excess tobacco back into its container. And unlike a sheet of paper, I don't have to worry about the air conditioner blowing it off the table.​

That's all I got, rest of the pipe accessories I have just aren't that impressive to me. The only other accessory I kind of want that might end up on the list, is a collapsible/portable pipe stand—I just keep forgetting to put one in my cart whenever I am ordering other stuff.

wood matches, tapered pipe cleaners, 8deco pipe tool (the basic pipe tools are fine too), zippo, pipenet or something like that reamer it's the one with the t shaped handle and four heads. And that's in order of importance. No tamper or tool I can use match sticks and fingers, but can not smoke without fire and matches are the best fire. Pipe cleaners are a must a dirty pipe gets nasty.

Do you sharpen the blade? Mine was as dull as a butter knife and the square tamping foot often missed a lot when tamping especially around the edges of the chamber.

Laguiole Is a region with dozens of knife makers with the same bee trademark. There are two Laguiole pipe knives. I have both. One has a dull round knife the other a sharp pointed knife. Neither is a great tamper but the dull rounded version is the one I would recommend.
I cringe at the thought of a pipe reamer or sharp pointy knife anywhere near my pipes.

I haven't needed to sharpen the blade. It was the perfect sharpness from the get-go and has continued to be just right for my intended use. After every smoke, I scrape out the dottle and bits of tobacco clinging to the chamber with it. I don't think I'd want the blade any sharper for fear of scoring the walls of the chamber. I agree the tamper would be better if it were round. I tend to use a nice light tamper that Luca through into an order I got from Corti.

Gotta agree the pick is not in a great location but i rarely use a pick anyway.
