Avenged some accumulated Scrabble losses vs. wifey with two blowout wins today, then managed to get in a bowl of Mac Baren Burley London Blend in my burley pipe, a Savinelli Porto Cervo 122 rusticated bent pot, before the rain came. Naturally, just enough to turn the mustang dirty (although it would appear @Sobrbiker has a far bigger cleanup job than I do). 8/10

Bird report: House finch, California scrub-jay, California quail, Band-tailed pigeon, Northern flicker, California towhee, White-crowned sparrow, American crow, Red-tailed hawk, Hairy woodpecker, Mountain chickadee, White-breasted nuthatch, Oak titmouse, Bushtit, Anna's hummingbird, and Spotted towhee.

@JimInks these modern MLB umpires are a joke. Back when I was a kid, they used to consistently resemble sumo wrestlers. And their strike zone didn't change from batter to batter either. Those days are long gone...

Another sunny autumn day. For the walk, I picked up my Luciano Virgin Sandblast Chubby Dublin (Pease/Di Piazza Design 2014) and packed it with Maverick Landmark Series – Golden Gate (subbrand of C&D). The smooth, classic taste of Virginia and Orientals matched perfectly with the unhurried pace of the stroll. Gentle coolness, sunlight filtering through leaves just starting to turn yellow — everything comes together in a meditative mood.

Earlier, I smoked a bowl of year 2016 Sutliff 507-C Slices in a sandblasted medium bend 1950s Reuben era Charatan Deluxe 11 billiard with a tapered black vulcanite stem.

Then, I smoked a bowl of Seattle Pipe Club Mississippi River Special Reserve in a black pebble finish straight 2003 Cavicchi C. Fatto A Mano lovat with a black acrylic saddle stem.

Currently, I have passed the quarter mark of this bowl of year 2020 Mac Baren Scottish Mixture in a straight, smooth brown 1960s Lane era Charatan Special 38 bulldog with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Had a very long, enjoyable chat with one of my oldest friends from elementary school days. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Going to check on the ferals soon.

Last smoke of the day is Wilke Pickett’s Charge in a post-WW2 straight smooth brown pre-Republic Peterson’s Dublin 3 bulldog with a nickel band and a tapered black vulcanite p-lip stem. Fed all the cats without incident. Daisy the Feral Princess wanted more head and back scratches than usual before she went out. Tomato the Brave ate, got attention, spent a few minutes biting on a rope, and then wanted out. Harry the Hairy ate outside.

Extending this beautiful night with MB HH ODF in the MM Country Gentleman. I actually mixed in some of the Sutliff Black Cordial 🍒, but I'm not going to pretend that was a great idea. I'm still enjoying it, but the sum is NOT better than the parts ... 😐 It was worth a try!

On a brighter note, I have a nice cup of Da Hong Pao Chinese Oolong tea! 🍵
Still watching Chinese Open tennis on the laptop, the screen of which is illuminating the smoke! 🎾
