Jim, I can't imagine your selection process.

You have a collection of who knows how many classic pipes to choose from and I really can't get my mind around how many blends to choose from.

It would be like standing in front of a map of the US and wondering, "Hmmm, wonder where I will go today?"
So you just take a dart and throw it and go where it sticks. ;)
Sometimes, I'm close to doing that. :)

I know I promised updates during the weekend but the girlfriend and I isolated hard. Was able to enjoy a bowl of Picayune by the campfire in the Boswell warden. No pics of the pipe but pics of our camp and steak and eggs breakfast :)

Tonight I'm back on the contentment train... breaking in a purdy new workhorse from Chris.
Dinner: assorted charcuterie. Drink, a spicy little bottle: Palace 2018 Napa Red Blend, entertainment: Somm Into the Bottle (on point)

Dessert: Miller lite chaser, chocolate pudding and an after dinner favorite, the decadent Edward G. Warehouse in the Ropp Heritage with Master & Commander

Almost another weekend, cheers to all puffy

Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious apple, and am near the half way mark this bowl of KBV Haunted Virginia 2025 in a medium bend fumed tan crackled year 2020 Ahmet Govem reverse calabash meerschaum with a military mount silver band and black acrylic stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink. I brought Daisy the Feral Princess in to eat, and she had her normal amount of wet food. Tomato the Brave came in on his own, ate and wanted back out. When I opened the door, Harry the Hairy was standing there. Tomato yelled when he saw him, and ran as fast as he could to the back of the den. I picked him up, took him to a safe spot outside, and Harry walked in to eat.

Update and a Great Smoke Yesterday: My disappearing act has not been without fruit, lol. And also processing some meat and freezing it. Actually much messier than the berries, cherries, and apples. Out of town company, and a nasty case of eczema from eating too much forbidden fruit. (Think I've worn that one out, eh?)

But I digress. The break-in of the trio of new pipes is now in it's third week, and the process has actually had good results. Although another two complete smokes is going to be necessary before I explore tobaccos, they're all smoking well, and giving some indications of what they might "take to" already. I've used so far, only Captain Black Dark, Borkum Riff Dark, and this week introducing a parfait of the two, along with some SWR. All three pipes are excellent smokers, very different though, and I'll keep you informed on their progress when I show up again, hopefully soon.

As a reminder, from top down they are the Lubinsky Olive, the Peterson Rhodesian Bowl Tavern pipe, and the Mr. Brog "Birdie."

Have been smoking various pipes as the spirit leads, cleaning them and trying a new tobacco or two. I've had one exceptional smoke lately, and I'll give you the lowdown:

IMGP6056BrogOpt4.JPG

My Brog Olivewood Military longstem is now pretty much broken in, and it's showing a strong affinity for the two Oriental tobaccos I've fed it. Not complaining at all. But it especially has liked Borkum Riff Dark Cavendish - this was the exceptional smoke. . . . . two of them, actually. And this is one of my favourite "go-to's."

It'll be interesting to keep going in this vein because it's only a medium bowl and is modest in it's tobacco demands while giving a good hour plus behind the wheel.

Will return asap. Have a good Thursday!

Did some low calorie snacking, and have a third of a bowl left of year 2020 Mac Baren Scottish Mixture in a straight, smooth brown 1960s Lane era Charatan Special 38 bulldog with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Fed my cats, and gave Molly Danger some play time. Sleepy Suzy is by my side. I'm getting ready to read baseball box scores.

Passing the half way mark of this bowl of year 2014 Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match in a late '80s, early 90s small bend medium brown smooth, unbranded Nording pot with a couple of small rusticated spots, an amber colored acrylic ferrule and tapered stem in the military mount style.

Not far from finishing this bowl of year 2020 Angler's Dream in a 1984 Stanwell Antique 124 egg with a smooth brown front and a black sandblasted back with a dark gold ferrule and black vulcanite stem in the military mount style. Everybody's eaten and I just had play time with Tomato the Brave. He really enjoys play time. Daisy the Feral Princess used to be like that before she became sedentary. Harry the Hairy never played with anyone and he doesn't always understand what to do. He does enjoy chasing catnip balls and plastic balls around, but I can't get him to play rope. He's the only cat I ever seen who is like that. Sleepy Suzy used to be very active, but not much anymore. I would throw foam rubber ear plugs and she'd catch them with her paws, and something she'd catch them in her mouth. Molly Danger plays some, but not like she used to.

Now smoking year 2015 D&R A.B. Rimboche in an undated slight bend, smooth flame grain Wessex Standard egg with a brown accent on the black vulcanite saddle stem. Maybe I'll get to end the day with this smoke. Tomato the Brave got a little bored so he ran up to me, "yipped" twice, stepped on my feet, and ran back to the cardboard box. Guess I'll give him more play time.
