Looks like a old cc to boot. Pre 2012 if i had to guess by the band. Nothing finer than a aged Montie for my money. Enjoy.
No, colleague, these cigarillos were bought recently and are intended for the domestic Cuban market. In fact, they were bought in Cuba. And they were stored as they should be, although they have dried out a little.

My cats get both. We limit wet food to the ferals because of the expense. Because we started occasionally giving it to Daisy the Feral Princess and Tomato the Brave years ago before the other ferals who have come and gone came around, it would have been unfair to stop doing that for them as they expect it at certain times during the day. But as there have been seven other ferals at one time or another, we had to limit what we did.
I see. Thanks.

All the recent talk about 507C sounded good so today’s bowl is Suttliff 507C in a Savinelli Onda. This side shows a bit of fill on the shank that was imperceptible when new, but has become pretty obvious (in person, anyways—not so bad in this photo) as the wood starts to patina. This kind of thing used to really bother me until I actually learned to accept imperfections and sometimes even enjoy them in a way. In this case I think it is fun to have a benchmark of the original color for reference as the wood darkens.

Almost finished smoking year 2014 Esoterica Tilbury in a smooth medium bend 1999 Peterson Sherlock Holmes Series Milverton with a sterling silver band and a black vulcanite p-lip stem. Did feral feeding, and my cats are eating now. Watching Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes pitch against the Orioles.

Inspired by an earlier post today, I decided to revisit Cowboy Coffee. Pipe is my Brebbia 1001 which is still ghosted, despite other’s suggestions to smoke until the ghost goes away… I’ll keep trying!

My wife and I decided to get back into vinyl records this summer. I used to have a large collection but sold everything off when we moved out of state years ago. Bought a Fluance RT85 in June, new record credenzas/TV stand in July, and now am listening to one of my favorite albums which I acquired last month - Ghosts of the Great Highway by Sun Kil Moon. I was pleased to find this one had a repressing in 2018, so I didn’t have to pay an exorbitant price for it! The repress is crystal clear, too. Sounds great.

It’s good to have this hobby back.

Year 2012 GL Pease Cairo in an IMP Meer. Age has done wonders. There is a unique tropical fruitiness, pineapple and passion fruit with a pleasant tartness. Then the complex spices, wood, and pepper come swirling in. The wood and spice take over with bitterness joining in at the end. A lively and interesting smoke that invites your attention.

For my MN Pipe Club Brothers ... re: next week's Meeting ... I'm bringing some 2014 Cairo!

QUES: I've inadvertently discovered something that I feel is confirmed. When getting to the last half of a bowl, on the hand holding the pipe, I'll sort of lay my first two fingers ('index finger" & "bad finger") over the top of the bowl, not completely sealing it off but somewhat impeding free air flow. This definitely seems to enhance smoking the last half.
Maybe Jim can explain why (!?!?), if anybody else does this.

Works like a damper on a stove. Best when the burning embers are low. The cover holds a little of the heat in so it won't go out as easily and allows you to smoke with a slower smolder. Also a great way to bring a pipe back to life w/o a relight if it's not been neglected so long that it's 100% out. Cover and slowly draw a couple deep pulls and voila...back to life.

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, chicken legs and sugar snap peas dinner with strawberries. I'm half way through this bowl of Sutliff Cringle Flake (Holiday Edition 2024) in a black straight, grain etched family era post WW2 Four Dot Sasieni “Appleby” apple with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink.
