First smoke in an estate Savinelli Mattone 614 faux-Hungarian (SP calls it an Oom Paul, but as you can see, the bowl walls are slightly rounded, not flat like a traditional Oom Paul), filled with a perfectly dried bowl of Mac Baren Navy Flake. Magical smoke...easily in my top 5 all-time bowls! 9.5/10

Bird report: House finch, California towhee, California quail, California scrub-jay, Steller's jay, Dark-eyed junco, Blue-grey gnatcatcher, Northern flicker, Oak titmouse, Mountain chickadee, White-breasted nuthatch, American crow, Mourning dove, Red-tailed hawk, and Western bluebird. Just about the full array today.

Sipped on a glass of red wine with the bowl, to celebrate an off-the-hook tomatillo harvest in the greenhouse. I anticipate consuming mass quantities (think Beldar from The Coneheads) of salsa verde this weekend...

Sorry for the generic internet pic...real one coming soon, I promise!

Tonight I’m back to some WCC Flake #558. Smoking in my large Guild Master Algerian briar bulldog with a 12k rose gold band and a perfectly aligned screw-in vulcanite stem. I know little of this pipe other than it’s incredibly crafted and a wonderful smoker. The gold dot is my own creation.

Now smoking year 2019 G&H Dark Flake Unscented in a small smooth straight dark brown circa-1950s Lane Commodore paneled pot with a black tapered vulcanite stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink.

Here's the brother of the two orange tabbies. He was the one I called "Shy Orange Tabby".
