Half way through this bowl of year 2014 Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match in a 2018 full bend smooth Terracotta Peterson XL315 System Standard military mount with a nickel cap and a flared black vulcanite p-lip stem. Work's done for the day, and I'm going to take out some of the recycle and check on the ferals.

Straight virginia (Mellow Mallard) from a heritage-pipe. This noname briar is like ~45 years old and still functional. Smells good tastes good. My grandfather bought it from a local tobacconist then my father used it for some years. The pipe itself was probably made in Yugoslavia / somewhere on the Balkan - it's really interesting to think about how long a life of a briar can be and how many generations it can live through.
You have a real treasure there brother. I would love to have one of my grandfathers pipes.

How does this one compare to Margate? Cheers.
I’ve not tried Margate if I’m honest but 1820 is in a league of its own, especially the cross cut flake and I think it’s closer to Pembroke if you want to compare it to Esoterica blends. It’s far superior to Nightcap imo, but of course it’s all subjective according to one’s taste.

Afternoon everyone, I’ve been busy with my PAD recently and restoring a few pipes. I just got finished with this 1912 Chester hallmarked Civic that needed considerable work done including taking the rim down by about 5mm due to some severe chipping. It’s been exorcised of all ghosts and I think it’s ready to fire up, Solani ABF will be the first bowl.
I just received a lovely seven day Matched Grain Kaywoodie set that I’m looking forward to showing everyone, they need a little clean up but I couldn’t be happier with them.
