Somebody is 23 weeks old today (and 36 pounds)! Celebrating the utilitarianism of the Labrador Retriever (Lucy to us) with Nording Hunter Labrador and a Bones Brandy on a rainy Saturday - Hawks will have to pull out a miracle to down PSU at Cleaver Stadium tonight but we’ll enjoy either way. Yesterday I popped a jar of Chile Morita sauce I made in July, to go with some chicken mole tacos. It's smoky, vinegary, fruity, and hot. My daughter's just old enough now to help me make tortillas, so it went fast, and we had fun bonding in the kitchen. She can scoop and press the masa while I keep an eye on the cast iron. Anyway, the Morita reminded me so much of HH Old Dark Fired Flake I had to pull some out of the cellar. I haven't smoked any in a while. It's more mellow than the Morita Sauce. Oh well. A quick bowl before my gig in my Musico acorn.

Followed by some Savinelli 140 in my Canadian-made Trypis billiard.

Then I christened this new-to-me Stanwell Hand Made Registry Era shape-54 with a true Danish tobacco: Scottish Mixture.

My nightcap was some almost 6-year old White Knight in this Peterson Sherlock Holmes Sandblasted Strand.

I'm really enjoying my aged Latakia blends now. White Knight is top of the heap in terms of Balkan blends for me. The Latakia is a whisper now, which is fine, because the Yenidje in this, and whatever other Orientals make up the blend are singing along with the fruity Virginia base. It's very harmonious and enchanting. In other words, good shit.
