Rained a bit this afternoon. Went lunting in the woods afterward with wife and horse. Kept it about as simple as it gets: Granger in a MM Country Gent. This blend, for me, smokes WAY better in a cob than in briar. Bird report: Brewer's blackbird, California quail, Acorn woodpecker, and Nuttall's woodpecker. Different spot, different birds.

Still looking for the pot of gold at the end, as TAD is calling...

Wow. Mind blown.

I dig the coloring but don't likely smoke enough to get the panache myself. And my clumsy self would likely drop a meerschaum.

I do enjoy seeing a lot of them and how the coloring seems to develop.
@The Amish Tyrant I've lost count of how many clay pipes I've broken...
I suppose as the clay king I'm not surprised I've broken more than most...
Looking forward to the Lace Wars re-enactment next weekend; I'm going to wear the Redcoat and smoke a clay while I'm there.
The stem of my church warden pipe broke during the Redcoats and Revolutionaries event; it must have cracked due to the heat...
All hail the clay king!

I like the colouring on the stem!
You could call it discoloring, it's many layers of soot that I rubbed in. I like to burn the sh*t out of it every once in a while. But I also like the optical result and I'm sure all my future clays will get this look sooner or later.
I'm going to wear the redcoat (@condorlover1 says it's my smoking jacket:)) and smoke a clay when I go to see Lace Wars next week. Need to get some pipe baccy...
I've read before about that redcoat, I dig it. 😁 And do get that good tobac, get off those nasty cigarettes.
And make sure to take and post a picture from the Lace Wars!

Puffin' nuffin' right now... I'm getting ready for a walk and some chew'n'spit. But I gotta be honest, every time I look at the little rolls I feel like cutting them up for my pipe. 😁 Looks delicious to me.

@Chaukisch I've never had a black clay pipe. I think it's a shame to smoke a new clean white pipe and get it discoloured & smell of stale pipe baccy...
I guess as you're in Germany it's a Markus Fohr pipe.

I’m a beginner (less than a year), and what I’ve got right now is 965, Father Dempsey, Presbyterian, and Lane 1-Q.

I was recommended the first and the last in that list to start with. I like the 965 a lot, and the 1-Q smells nice and burns quite well in my cob pipe.

What I really enjoy is the Presbyterian. It’s sort of mild and smooth while still having some of the character of the English? It’s nice and easy.

I’ve ordered a new sampler now, based on my limited experience which will be Early Morning Pipe, Nightcap, Capstan Blue, and Three Nuns. Hopefully I’ve made some good picks there.

Edit - Sorry, I thought this meant tobacco not pipes! Feel free to ignore me!
I also began pipe smoking last year, after having quit cigarettes for about two years before. 965 was the first Pipe tobacco which gave me a lot satisfaction, after some aromatics and Capstan Blue, which I found quite boring. Now I enjoy some Latakia blends and those with Perique the most.

Last smoke of the day is Uhle’s Blend 71 in a 2018 smooth full bend Peterson Premiere 312 billiard with a silver cap military mount and a black vulcanite saddle stem with a p-lip. Listening to Fibber McGee and Molly (we named our cat after Molly McGee) as I read baseball box scores.
