Choatecav,

Yes, a lot of satisfaction in getting this task completed.

I run a small number of sheep each year on my little homestead. The
larger sheep ranches would use a shoot system that incorporates a trimming table to allow them to trim a larger number of animals.

I use what some call a “deck chair” to allow me to carefully trim hooves without hurting the sheep or me. I can manage it Solo, but with my wives help it goes really well. She helps calm the sheep while I get to trimming. Each sheep takes about 10-12 minutes depending on the condition. I trim before breeding in the Fall and check them again mid summer.

Fralphog,
That was fascinating. A facet of animal husbandry that I have no knowledge of whatsoever. Thank you for sending that info.

Part way through this bowl of year 2014 Astley’s No. 44 in a straight smooth brown pre-republic Peterson’s Sterling billiard 260 with a sterling silver band and a tapered black vulcanite p-lip stem. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo. Second time smoking this pipe. It may get me to dinner time. Daisy the Feral Princess and Tomato the Brave ate and ran. Harry the Hairy has been sitting on a chair outside all day long.

A cold very rainy,, windy (gusts to 40mph), messy day. Loaded up the Barontini 1/2 spigot bent billiard with 9mm filter with Sutliff 507-C, to brave the elements and get a great haircut from a very attractive young woman hairdresser at the 'Salon' ... no complaints (except its 2x the cost of my retired barber who recommended her but 1/2 of competitors.). But worth it to look a few years younger I suppose. We've had a thread on this before but I think women barbers pay more attention to detail and I prefer them. The conversations are better too. Saw lights and heard police and fire sirens all the way home ... many trees down. The bowl lasted all afternoon and I will finish it shortly. Stay dry everyone !

You like Billy Strings? I been trying to see Billy Strings for like 2 years but Everytime he comes to town I got something going on.
You should definitely go the next time he’s in town. I saw them in Grand Rapids and the last few songs of their set in San Francisco this summer. It’s quite a show but not really my style. I really like the single microphone part of the shows. The whole band is so good, especially Alex Hargreaves.

With that said, Billy channels Doc better than most I’ve heard and he’s steeped in the classics.

Took a couple dogs on a walk earlier with some 2024 Horizons obtained in trade with consummate gentleman @Eireprof loaded into the Big Honkin Cob. These dogs, Stumpy and Snoop, are the best of friends, and when they get into the tall grass display some very impressive technique. They play rough, but never draw blood. Always end up cuddling and exhausted. IMG_8110.jpeg

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, orange roughy and snow peas dinner with strawberries. Tomorrow will be an off diet day. I'm smoking year 2013 Dunhill Elizabethan Match in a straight smooth dark brown 1950s Comoy’s Deluxe apple military mount with a sterling silver band and a tapered black vulcanite stem. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink. Daisy the Feral Princess and Tomato the Brave walked down the driveway with me as I took the trash to the street. I didn't notice it when I went out the backdoor, but when I came back, there was a freshly left mouse near the door. Harry the Hairy isn't around, so I dunno if he is the culprit that he generally is. Daisy and Tomato have done it once in a blue moon so it maybe have been one of them this time.
