After finally finishing off a tin of Awakened Elder, it seemed appropriate to get another Old Ones tin in rotation... and a 2023 From Beyond won the draw! The tin note on opening was nothing like the Elder, which was a dramatic lat-bomb like a glorious tire fire behind a strip mall in New Jersey! No.. this is something else entirely. Rich and intriguing, with subtle sourness (from the orientals?) and an unmistakable but also subtle perique nose...
I presented the tin to my wife as I sometimes do.. Whoa! She did not find it agreeable! "Are you trying to kill me!? Is that Clorox?!" She declared it the worst of anything I've offered so far. Ah well, it's outside for me. In this first bowl in the SMS 6 panel bent lattice meer, it is nothing short of perfection on this cool October night, with the quarter moon looking down, bright in the south.

A quarter of the way through this bowl of year 2020 Mac Baren Scottish Mixture in a straight smooth dark brown pre-1965 Lane era Charatan Selected Made in England billiard with a sterling silver band and a tapered black vulcanite stem. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo. First time smoking this pipe. This blend does very well in the Charatan that I have been smoking it in so I thought I'd smoke it in this pipe.

Tomato the Brave needed some love. That wasn't hard to do. Everybody loves the li'l fella.

Had a parfait of 2016 C&D Bayou Morning with Rattray Dark Fragrant in a Bones Big Bent Apple. Smoked to the bottom on one light and left little moisture, but I could’ve used a little more sweetness in the bowl. Bayou Morn is just too “dry” for my taste. However, the medium nic kick was nice. Followed with a bowl of Maple Shadows II in an MM Country Gent, which scratched the sweet itch. No pic of that smoke.

Edit: Post #4077, which means I win the Radar O’Reilly Award!
@khiddy I'm with you on amending Bayou Morning. My favorite is a 60/40 mix with Hamborger Veermaster, a very sweet and smooth Va!

Now smoking year 2001 Wessex Campaign Dark Flake in a slight bent smooth brown family era Old England (Sasieni second) bulldog 785 with a diamond shank and a tapered black vulcanite stem. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo. First time smoking this pipe. Fed the ferals, and they all went out.

Enjoyed a tasty Snap Dragon apple, and am smoking year 2020 D&R VIP in a smooth brown medium bend 1980 Peterson’s sterling silver spigot 314 with a black vulcanite saddle fish tail stem hallmarked at 1979. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo. It's the last of David's pipes that I'm breaking today. When I figure out what to smoke in the others I have cleaned, and clean other pipes that David's sister gave me, I'll smoke them, too.

Near the half way mark of this bowl of first production Watch City American Cut Plug Mixture in a straight smooth brown Algerian briar family era Barling’s Make Billiard 6 with a tapered black vulcanite stem. The stampings suggest 1930s, but the “6” is a previously unknown stamp number as is its placement. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo. I'll end the day with this smoke. Fed my cats, Daisy the Feral Princess and Harry the Hairy. They went out afterward. I called for Tomato the Brave, but he didn't answer so he must be elsewhere. Reading while this bowl lasts.
