A lot of my pipe time has been dedicated to a couple of home-made corncobs recently so I decided to break out the briar today. I planted 100 bulbs in various flower boxes before the snow reaches Anchorage and decided to celebrate the task completed with an old Kaywoodie pot and a mixture of odds & ends from my left-overs jar. It was an amazingly nice smoke and a good reminder of how competent these old American factory pipes turned out by the millions in the ‘50s and ‘60s were.

Edit: I just thought I'd add that the bulb-planting was because a d@mn moose wiped out my tulips this spring. They eat so much and in spring, tulips are a tempting target.

Smoking my Luciano Virgin Sandblast Chubby Dublin (GL Pease / Di Piazza Design, 2014) with Maverick Yosemite from the Landmark Series (a sub-brand of Cornell & Diehl).
A refined English blend composed of Red and Lemon Virginias, Orientals, and smoky-spicy Cyprian Latakia, presented in a classic ribbon cut.

Passing the quarter mark of this bowl of year 2013 Sutliff Dunhill Elizabethan Match in a 1982 smooth straight Dunhill Root Briar 31051 dublin with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Harry the Hairy just went out because he was bored.

On a very calm, peaceful evening, enjoying a delightful bowl of MB HH ODF in a Santambrogio Bent Apple. 🍏 I created more of a cube cut, and it's working really, really well for me.

Along with Saint Arnold 2025 Pumpkinator Imperial Stout. Strong stuff. A bit sweet, as these often are, but still quite delicious. 🎃 🍺 Saint Arnold is a brewery in Houston, TX, and some of their stuff is really good.

I've passed the half way mark of this bowl of 2023 KBV Verge Engine Santa Drive in a 1978 Peterson Deluxe 20S medium bend smooth dark brown billiard with a silver cap military mount black vulcanite saddle p-lip stem. Daisy the Feral Princess and Tomato the Brave came in for wet food when Harry the Hairy went out. Tomato ate much more than usual, and wanted to lay on m'lady's chair, but Molly Danger is lying there. I fixed room for him on the couch, but Tomato made up his mind to go back out. I let him out even though it's a little chilly and rainy. Daisy decided the spot I made for Tomato was a good one so she's snoozin' there now. I just fed Molly and Sleepy Suzy, who is back by my side, and keeps grabbing at my left arm. I've had to move her twice so I could post this smoke, the silly girl.

I attended an evening house party at a good friend's home that featured a large patio and a warming fire pit. After dinner my long-time friend, neighbor and cigar buddy, Judge Tony (he's a Circuit Court Judge), offered me a My Father "The Judge" toro. Wow, what a terrific cigar! We enjoyed them by the fire. The smoke was somewhat strong, quite spicy with a hint of dark chocolate. It was the perfect end note to a wonderful evening.
