... picked up this Celebi Meerschaum ...
Smoking C&D Rajah’s Court in the new Celebi. I have been wanting a shallow bowled Meer for Latakia for a while and once I saw the lattice on this, no question take my money.View attachment 426481View attachment 426485View attachment 426482View attachment 426483
That Meer. Leaves. Me. Speechless. 😻 Spectacular!

And talk about a pipe that will *never* get hot in your hand. You are clearly in the running for one of @gord's special awards ... :)

Almost a third of the way through this bowl of year 2014 Esoterica Tilbury in a straight smooth Danish gold straight grain undated W.O. Larsen Hand Made in Denmark dublin with a tapered black vulcanite stem. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo. Harry the Hairy nibbled a little and went out. Tomato the Brave came in, ate some dry food, thanked me, jumped on my lap and jumped off once he saw Sleepy Suzy by my side. Right now, he is ready to snooze on m'lady's chair. Daisy the Feral Princess is still snoozin' on her favorite blue blanket. Molly Danger is snoozin' in the bed room.

Just saw this post. Yup. Agreed. Pipe of the day! @Steddy, 'tis yours on this day. Unbelieveably beautiful meer. About perfect, and unlike most meers I see, well within the bounds of good taste! 🤩 👍👍

The Lower Forty of Hill Country
This morning while enjoying the development of a cool, cloudy, panchromatic dawn over Dogtown I savored my first-ever bowl of St. Bruno (Ready-Rubbed) in an estate no-name Prince of Wales briar with straight fishtail bit. I purchased this pipe years ago from an antique mall in Hastings, Minnesota. It has absolutely no stampings or markings, but, likewise, no fills or defects and the drilling is spot-on. Its color is what I would call a dark cordovan, and it highlights the attractive grain nicely. The best part is that it is an excellent smoker.

The date code on the clear seal-strip of my pouch states 'Sep 2023" and I found the moisture of the tobacco to be just right. Although the label states "Ready Rubbed" it was VERY chunky and benefited greatly from a trip through my little Black & Decker 1.5-cup food processor. Still, it took several matches to get a good ember going.

I found the character of the smoke to be almost chewy and this, together with its taste, was delightful right down to the bottom of the bowl. Further, it smoked relatively dry and left a pleasant aftertaste.

I don't know why I waited so long to try it, but I'm glad I did. St. Bruno is a welcome addition to my rotation and my cellar.
