Love that Dunhill (and strong billiards like that, in general). A very nice find and looks to be in great shape. Been looking for a birthyear Dunhill myself.New (to me) pipe arrived today!! (So, bear with my excitement ...)
I discovered that some folks own a pipe manufactured the year they were born. Sounded like a cool idea to me, I mean, the year IS pretty meaningful! I also gathered that Dunhills are often fairly easy to date. I never had a Dunhill. Also never had an estate pipe. ALSO never had a billiard. So ...
Killing 4with 1 stone: I located an old 1973 Dunhill Root Briar 126 w/ vulcanite stem, in (I think) excellent condition. It's pretty schnazzy, and has a really nice, open draw. Testing it out now with John Bull True English.
FIRST ever Dunhill
FIRST ever estate pipe (my birth year)
FIRST ever billiard
And FIRST smoke in said new pipe
Oh, and FIRST try of Shipyard Smashed Pumpkin Ale
It's a Pentafecta of FIRSTS!!(Or is it a quintfecta?)

Congratulations, that’s awesome!!So, I wanted to share this big news with all of you—last night, Susan and I tied the knot!
It was a beautiful night. I’d never seen so many stars in this area before (you could see more than just Orion’s belt and shoulders in the constellation). The little fire we had going in the firepit was very cozy and kept us comfortable.
Wasabi was the cutest groomsman ever:

Watching the broadcast of UFC Fight Night: Reinier de Ridder vs. Brendan Allen (also known as UFC Fight Night 262 and UFC on ESPN+ 120), taking place at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. I’m starting off with Savinelli Doblone d’Oro in the first Savinelli Ottagono, a sandblasted, black, Straight Billiard (sort of a Pot after shaping) Limited Edition (No. 359/550), with a 9mm orange and black craquelure acrylic stem (I’m not using a filter; I opted for a 3mm adapter). This first Ottagono in the series used new old-stock stummels (probably made from leftover Octavia 138 stummels).
I’m following that up with Savinelli Brunello Flake in a sandblasted, black, Savinelli Ottagono Due (aka Ottagono II) Straight Dublin Limited Edition (No. 63/600, selected for my birth year, 1963); our buddy, John, is using his Ottagono Due (No. 76/600, selected for his birth year, 1976).
Next up will be Savinelli Juno in a sandblasted, black, Savinelli Ottagono Tre (aka Ottagono III) Bent Billiard Limited Edition (No. 484/600, selected for the two 4s and one 8 tying in with the octagonal theme). This pipe is based on the Octavia 638.
I got John a belated birthday present and thank you for being one of our witnesses last night: this year’s eight-sided release, a Savinelli Ottagono Long Sandblasted 138. I got him number 448 (mine is 484). I’m having Savinelli 140⁰ in it.
