Ambrosia.
Before this year, Mixture was one of those blends that I smoked occasionally. I went through maybe 100 grams a year.
Now, it's a rare day when I don't enjoy a bowl - just as bulk Mixture is gone. :(
Such are the vagaries of life.
Thank you! I picked up a large bulk bag a couple/three years ago and jarred it all up. Smoked a tin then, too. I thought it was ok but didn't really grab me. I'm now encouraged to give the jars a few more years and keen to try what happens!

Something curious happened today. I was standing outside, smoking my pipe, when a young guy came up and asked — quite genuinely —
“What is that?”
I showed him the pipe, explained a bit, even let him smell the tobacco. It was obvious he had never seen a real pipe before.
For them, it’s like an artifact from another era — at best, something exotic; at worst, an incomprehensible ritual. They’re used to vapes, nicotine pouches, and sleek gadgets, not to an object that asks for care, contemplation, and a slower rhythm.
It’s a strange feeling, realizing that for newer generations, the pipe isn’t just rare — it’s almost forgotten.
In a way, the pipe has become the anti-symbol of modernity: a quiet embodiment of slowness, material presence, and reflection — everything that’s fading from everyday life.

Nording Woodcock with Nording Hunter Pointer. Short jaunt into MN early this morning to work a very small pocket that I scouted out. More birds than expected but strangely spooky for opening. Only two chances - one bird, lol, not her fault. It was a world class find and retrieve and …… after last season being mostly training, her first truly wild bird. A happy girl!

I've not posted for about a week due to extenuating circumstances......

But, for a while I have been trying to get a nice meerschaum. I have a few, but they were estate pipes so I've never bought a new one. Tried to buy an Altinay but the one I was looking at came from Turkey and the current buying conditions made it too costly to ship....... So, I found a Tekin bent with a lot of detail that I bought.
Today I had my first smoke and used HU Edward G. It was very pleasant and look forward to many more to come.

Good one 😂 and don’t give me any short cut ideas. Believe me I thought about saying screw it and doing a Stouffer’s In the alum pan and saying Here you go Pop just like mommy makes😂 😂 the mixer I have really makes it all easy and especially since I have 2 bowls for it I can swap out projects and keep moving.
