Long day yesterday, but got a few smokes in. Because of the massive post canning/freezing cleanup, let alone the current (and thankfully fading case of eczema), not much for anything long. Smoked some
Arango Balkan Supreme in the pipsqueak
McQueen Barrel Rider, and a couple of Phillies Blunt Chocolate cigars, in lieu of the real deal, which would not be good for my scratching skills, lol. All decidedly great smokes. The Barrel Rider is not a longstem (6") but a terrific smoker that really likes this stuff.

The break-in saga continues in week 5, with the now troublesome
Lubinsky Olive Military Mount (top of the trio in snapshot), pretty much broken in, it still balks at anything except the original break-in fodder, Captain Black Black Cavendish, which it likes. Tried
Captain Black Cherry, followed by and then
Smoker's Pride Cherry Cavendish, and it refused these offerings with a rather droll "Ho Hum. I like Captain Black Dark, but am still searching for a few stablemates on this attractive pipe. It'll have to wait until next week, as today and tomorrow are going to involve the middle pipe, the Peterson Tavern Rhodesian.
I have a strong feeling that the Lubinsky is going to like plain Englishes. We'll see . . . .
An interesting
Skippable Drivel today. I think some of the luddite retro crowd here might like today's version. Below snap of trio.

Skippable Drivel: (@ cshubhra )
CS mentioned his retro stero/vinyl stuff the other day, so I've taken the liberty of picturing a snap of a couple of my retro-toys.

Pic is a bit dark, but shown is my Lloyd's Tube Powered AM/FM radio, dating from the sixties, sitting on a Sanyo DVD player from the seventies I believe, one of the first models to have a thumb-drive input built in. The Polk Audio speakers are a bit later in design, from the eighties. I'm not a historian, just a user of old analog and early digital stuff.
Traded some old cameras and a couple of old airguns for this (and lots of others of this ilk from equally loony friends, who are also retro-users. I'll be hooking up this stuff from an old Viking 14" television to watch old DVDs and CDs in my living room. Dickering with Mike for an old Roberts reel to reel tape recorder, a Thorens Turntable, and a Nakamichi cassette deck. He's had his eye on one of my Linhof 4x5 studio cameras and a massive tripod to hold the monster in place. He'll get it, but I'll squawk a bit first, of course.
Loons are very common in the Prince George region. Will return somewhat sporadically for the next week or so. Time to get out for a day or two in hot pursuit of rainbows, whitefish and other assorted finny creatures.
Y'all have a good Wednesday.
