I get what you mean, and this is a point that just comes down to personal taste. Castello is a little more classic -- in general -- with their shapes but they do have some fairly innovative shapes and finishes, too, that pop up every once in a while. Either way, examples of both makes in my collection have shown great internal engineering and both smoke like a dream.

Heading down 12 floors to the smoke spot to catch the sunrise today with a bowl of OJK Blue in an SMS. When i get home i'm going to try some Tampa cigar leaf in various ratios with this, being it is just the base burleys from OJK, and see if i can come up with something interesting to suggest to C&D: OJK Black, perhaps?

You’re absolutely right — the Italian school really offers a whole spectrum of character. From Castello’s classical precision to Ser Jacopo’s artistic eccentricity, it’s a beautiful demonstration of how form and soul can coexist in briar.
And that “OJK Black” experiment of yours sounds dangerously good — careful, you might accidentally invent a new C&D line! 😄
