A clear and sunny October day — perfect for a slow smoke. Today I chose Robert McConnell Regent Street, a classic Virginia/Perique blend with no added flavoring, offering natural sweetness and a touch of spicy Perique. Smoked in a Peterson Christmas 2012 XL90, it burns cool and evenly, with subtle bready and fruity undertones. A calm, balanced blend that fits the quiet mood of autumn just right.

Earlier, I smoked a bowl of year 2020 C&D Virginia Gentleman in a straight smooth dark brown pre-1940s Comoy’s Jost’s Olde English Supreme J299 Canadian with a tapered black vulcanite stem.

Then, I smoked a bowl of aged Rattrays Hal O’ The Wynd in a straight smooth brown pre-WWII (Comoy’s) Corinthian De-Luxe 126 pot made for Sutliff in San Francisco with a black tapered vulcanite stem.

Currently, I'm a quarter of the way through this bowl of year 2014 Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match in a late '80s, early 90s small bend medium brown smooth, unbranded Nording pot with a couple of small rusticated spots, an amber colored acrylic ferrule and tapered stem in the military mount style. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

Night capper bowl of Kelly's Coin in a Ser Jacopo L2 Coral Dot. Excellent evening smoke. And soon to bed...

Without taking anything away from Castelo’s smoking pipes, I still find Ser Jacopo more appealing aesthetically — there’s more individuality and artistic flair in their designs.
