Sorry, a lack of clear language on my part. I meant to ask you, how do you find the taste of C&D Red Carpet? I was intrigued and ordered a couple of tins just because I am reckless.

It’s pretty good! Definitely improves with a little age. I find it more on the darker side of Vapers I get sweet/sour fruity notes from it.

Sunday afternoon smoke is some McConnell Red Virginia in a a Scotti era Castello #33 whilst I await the Grand Final that's on at 4pm.

Today I chose Robert McConnell Regent Street, a classic Virginia/Perique blend with no added flavoring, offering natural sweetness and a touch of spicy Perique. Smoked in a Peterson Christmas 2012 XL90, it burns cool and evenly, with subtle bready and fruity undertones. A calm, balanced blend that fits the quiet mood of autumn just right.

Earlier, I smoked a bowl of year 2020 C&D Virginia Gentleman in a straight smooth dark brown pre-1940s Comoy’s Jost’s Olde English Supreme J299 Canadian with a tapered black vulcanite stem.


Then, I smoked a bowl of aged Rattrays Hal O’ The Wynd in a straight smooth brown pre-WWII (Comoy’s) Corinthian De-Luxe 126 pot made for Sutliff in San Francisco with a black tapered vulcanite stem.


Currently, I'm a quarter of the way through this bowl of year 2014 Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match in a late '80s, early 90s small bend medium brown smooth, unbranded Nording pot with a couple of small rusticated spots, an amber colored acrylic ferrule and tapered stem in the military mount style. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

Without taking anything away from Castelo’s smoking pipes, I still find Ser Jacopo more appealing aesthetically — there’s more individuality and artistic flair in their designs.
