***What Are You Smoking, October 2025?***

ANTICIPATION:
Just loaded my Peterson System Standard 302 (Donegal Rocky, Fishtail) with Mac Baren The Solent Mixture.
Will be the first time I've ever smoked Solent, first produced 1950, so maybe Mac Baren's oldest blend?
I've got 2 tins in the cellar, purchased '07, probably Syrian Latakia. Today's smoke is a sample from a Sept Pipe Club brother, unsure if it's after '18, hence probably Cyprus Latakia. Pipe's loaded & ready, but will first fix lunch, so kind of teasing myself by waiting a bit.
NOTE: With the discontinuance of so much Mac Baren, I'm viewing what's in my cellar like the McClelland stuff.

Just had a roughly two-hour bowl of Carter Hall in its dedicated cob. My work at smoking the Edisto way slower lately has been paying off, and the CH tasted very sweet and soft, with fewer of the rough notes that I dislike about burley.

A quarter of the way through this bowl of Ken Byron Ventures Mr. Christian’s Brown Flek 2021 in a straight smooth brown 1950s Comoy’s Selected Straight Grain Extraordinaire bulldog 5 with a diamond shape shank and black vulcanite saddle stem. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo. Tried to take a better photo of this pipe, but just can't manage it. The bowl is a tad bigger than it looks, and the pipe is slightly lighter, too.

Now smoking year 2021 Watch City Queequeg’s Moby Dick Series in a medium bend black sandblasted IPSD 2016 Mark Tinsky book keeper 5 with a square shank and a black acrylic saddle stem with a cream colored accent. The shape was designed by my great friend, the late Art Arterburn, and gifted to me by him. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Sleepy Suzy woke up, and told her to feed her. Who am I to argue?

Now smoking year 2012 Esoterica Dunbar in a smooth straight, dark brown 1960s Lane era Charatan Selected 43 Dublin with a black vulcanite double comfort saddle stem. This pipe was formerly owned by actor William Conrad.
