You should definitely go the next time he’s in town. I saw them in Grand Rapids and the last few songs of their set in San Francisco this summer. It’s quite a show but not really my style. I really like the single microphone part of the shows. The whole band is so good, especially Alex Hargreaves.

With that said, Billy channels Doc better than most I’ve heard and he’s steeped in the classics.
Speaking of single microphones, I went to a Johnny Winters performance many years ago, and the unannounced opening band was the Del McCoury band. And I’ve been hooked on bluegrass ever since. They are masters of the genre.

Was in the 30's this morning so I saddled up my big black TWH, Whip, and we had a nice ride. Later, after some chores, I built the first fire of the season and kicked back with some Haunted Bookshop in my Peterson XL 315.
Riding horses, building fires and smoking pipes are the things that ORB's (Old Retired Bastards) do in the middle of the work day. Those of you who are retired, know what I mean. Those not, well...... it's something to look forward to.

Enjoyed a giant plate of teriyaki beef and shrimp under a bed of rice and mushrooms, a third of an apple cinnamon raisin cake, unsalted peanuts and a big golden delicious apple lunch. I'm near the first quarter of this bowl of year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Natural 4AB No. 6/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Gold Star Jamaica Blue Mountain, neat, is my drink. Getting ready to clean a few pipes.

I reckon that’s your favorite pipe ain’t it?
It's one of them. My favorite pipe is this Barling. besides being a great smoker, there's a personal story behind it no other pipe can match.

My late friend Donald Snider was like a brother to me. We were friends for twenty five years. He was trying to get off of cigarettes, and tried pipe smoking. He had a fair amount of spending cash, and bought a lot of expensive pipes from the pipe shop that we spent time at: Ardors, Rinaldos, a Dunhill, etc. One Ardor cost him a little over a grand. One day, he bought this estate Barling. After he bought it, I told him that this was the first pipe that he bought that I had envy for. Donald smiled, and said, "If anything ever happens to me, it'll be yours." He passed away from pancreatic cancer five years after that, and I was given his collection as he requested. Every time I smoke this pipe, I think of him and miss him. Nothing can be more important to me than that.

This is the expensive Ardor straight grain that I mentioned earlier. it's big, heavy and an incredible smoker:

Looking straight out of a classic Western 🤠 That shot on horseback could be a film still — calm confidence, dust, and open space.
A perfect cinematic moment captured without pretense.👍🏻
