Been traveling past few weekends. Some smokes mixed in but no posting. Enjoying home sweet home with WCC Old North Church in my burley machine Stanwell Bent Dublin. Although when visiting a friend I converted a cigar smoker to a new piper. So not all bad.

Chenet’s cake in an Eltang, ongoing Tinnitus kept me up last night, had my first experience with “pulsatile tinnitus” scared the crap out of me! Sounds like a troll crawled in my ear and started eating his lunch. variety is the spice of life!

UFC 308, Ilia Topuria vs. Max Holloway, is taking place in the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, so it was an early 10:00 am EST start (Carlos Leal got robbed in the first fight!) As UFC fights take place in an Octagon, I opted to used my eight-sided Savinelli pipes today.



I’m starting of with Savinelli Doblone d’Oro in the first Savinelli Ottagono, a sandblasted, black, Straight Billiard (sort of a Pot after shaping) Limited Edition (No. 359/550), with a 9mm orange and black craquelure acrylic stem (not using a filter; I opted for a 3mm adapter). This first Ottagono in the series used new old-stock stummels (perhaps, leftover Octavia 138 stummels?)



I’m following that up with Savinelli Brunello Flake in a sandblasted, black, Savinelli Ottagono Due (aka Ottagono II) Straight Dublin Limited Edition (No. 63/600, selected for my birth year, 1963—I gifted my friend, John, No. 76/600 for his birth year). This pipe is based on the Octavia 438.



Next up will be Savinelli Juno in a sandblasted, black, Savinelli Ottagono Tre (aka Ottagono III) Bent Billiard Limited Edition (No. 484/600, selected for the two 4s and one 8 tying in with the octagonal theme; our birthday present to John was supposed to be No. 448/600, but smokingpipes.com sent the wrong one—they didn’t actually have 448 in stock and sent some randomly selected number without asking me if I had a preferred substitution, which messed up my carefully crafted gift plans, and put me in a very foul mood). This pipe is based on the Octavia 638.

A third of the way through this bowl of pre-2014 Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style. Going to check on the ferals in a couple of minutes. Ice water and bergs is my drink.
