13 year old Capstan blue in a Stanwell shape 56 (their standard Canadian). This one has an interesting history. It was made for the 1982 Danish slow smoking championship. I bought it about 15 years ago from a dealer who had it still unsmoked. It's got a small/medium group 3 size bowl so I turned it into a Virginia and VaPer smoker. IMG_4721.jpg

Last smoke of the month is Mac Baren Navy Flake in a Savinelli Porto Cervo 122 rusticated pot, as I wrap up some chores and prepare for our traditional pot pie/Nightmare Before Christmas evening. First time trying fold and stuff with this blend--methinks I will go back to rubbing them out going forward. 8/10

Bird report: White-crowned sparrow, Dark-eyed junco, California towhee, California quail, House finch, Band-tailed pigeon, Cooper's hawk, California scrub-jay, Steller's jay, American crow, Red-tailed hawk, Hairy woodpecker, and Northern flicker.

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, chicken legs and green beans dinner with strawberries for dessert. I'm a quarter of the way through this bowl of year 2013 Stonehaven in a 1998 smooth medium bend brown Peterson Limerick 69 with a nickel band with a tapered black vulcanite p-lip stem. Every so often, you get a pipe that greatly exceeds their pay grade. This Peterson is one of them. It's not a high grade pipe, but it smokes Stonehaven every bit as well as my beloved Barling 249 and the Rinaldo silver spigot, both of which are also dedicated to Stonehaven. It's wonderful when that happens. Paid $35 for it at a going out of business Tinderbox in 1998. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink.

Watched the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers, there was a fair bit of pipe smoking in it so now I'm chilling with a martini and some Pegasus in an Apple. It's tasting real good tonight I tried the air-pocket packing method and it's really bringing out some carmel notes that I've never noticed. Wild how changing the pack changes the flavor like that.
