What a confusing pipe, thanks for posting it! What is the "reel of woolen thread" meant to accomplish? Is it a survivalist pipe that can double as an ice-fishing rod in a pinch? Or is it some sort of filter/sponge?
Yes, it's most unfortunate that the diagrams/cross-sections that would explain the workings of this mad pipe are not included on the Google patent page.

First smoke in this Brigham 5 dot from somewhere between 1980 and approx 2000 according to Charles Lemon. Charles is the authority on all things Brigham. I am smoking some rubbed out Rattray Wallace Flake. Drinking some coffee and a glass of water while watching the Chiefs vs the Broncos

Whiskey Biscuit Gravey from Just For Him, packed for later in a Stanwell pot, non-cylindrical shape, original design by Sixten Iversson. He did some of this industrial design of tobacco pipes, that is designing for factory manufacture in addition to his own one-off hand-carved artisan pipes.
