I found it. I might need a little work. I don't think it came with a green stem.

Happy Thanksgiving to all !!! Just finished mashing the turnips (150+ yr old family recipe) ; getting ready to heat the ham and side dishes. Family is bringing turkey. stuffing and homemade cranberry sauce. Smoking PS Luxury Navy Twist in new to me Peterson House pipe. Enjoy all !!

Funny you mentioned mashed turnips. I read an article this morning about six old, traditional dishes that are rarely seen anymore. They said "Mashed Turnips" were one of the oldest dishes that date back to the original 13 colonies.

Finishing up the bird on the Wilmington grill, it sure can cook a juicy turkey, smoked a bowl of Nightcap in the Peterson Baskerville and a bowl of Ravenwood swiftcurrent a aro which is dang good in the Peterson 03 Irish whiskey Happy Thanksgiving

!!!Its older than that. The recipe is my german grandmother's from her mother and so on back to the farm; those ancestors were brewers, bakers and butchers way back then. Emigrated here around 1870. Two tips: never add salt to turnips unless you want to enhance the bitterness; and turnips don't raise blood sugar like potatoes or sweet potatoes so perfect for diabetics. Have to go warm the ham and red cabbage and boiled onions now !
