In my continuing journey through HU blends, I today opened and tried their English Breakfast. A nice mild English blend that although it is 20% Cyprian Latakia, the Lat hit is quite subtle. I know some don't care for English blends, but for those who do and don't particularly want an overpowering Latakia experience, I would strongly recommend this blend.
I thought it appropriate to experience it in an English made pipe, so I used my Barling 5276 Billiard. Sparkling water came along for the ride....

Just finished a nice tasty bowl of C&D Poplar Camp in my new Peterson Aran Paneled Acorn. This pipe really likes Virginia what can I say, and the bowl is the perfect size for taking my pup for a walk. Lasted just a bit before I got home, I could see this becoming a new workhorse pipe.

First time with that blend too, it reminds me of Bayou Morning but with a bit less pepper forward notes and a sweeter backend, probably from the Cavendish. Its like if you sanded off the hard edges of Bayou Morning but kept the body. Good stuff glad I got a few ounces when I snagged this pipe that I totally didn't need.

Thanks for sharing your take on it🤝. For me, the Perique in Chacom 4 comes through much more subtly — I get a light spice and a touch of dark fruit, but not that fuller “plummy” profile you describe. It may simply be a matter of batch variation or how our palates read the balance between the Virginias and Perique. In any case, I agree that it’s a well-made blend, and it certainly has good aging potential.
I would say that the plum is orientated more to my olfactory impression and only translates through the first third to half of the bowl. The red Virginia take over from there.

Now smoking year 2010 Mac Baren Burley London Blend in a smooth medium bend 2011 Rinaldo Collection Fiammata Silver Line 7 Odea 04 flame grain bulldog with a silver band and a tortoise shell acrylic saddle stem. This should get me to dinner time. Had trouble writing beta notes on my last smoke because Norton the Nosey was on my lap. He left in time for me to post this smoke.
