Great day today at the Texas Pipe Show. My first-ever pipe show, and it set the bar high. Got to meet Mark Irwin, who graciously signed my copy of the Peterson Pipe Book, as well as John David from the Country Squire who was a consummate gentleman and let me try some of their tobaccos I’d never had before. got a couple of pipes, which I’ll post later when I get a chance to smoke them. Smoked a lot today, but the most important was the slow smoke I participated in with some very fine folks indeed, tobacco was GL Pease Pennyfarthing in a clay - I lasted 13 minutes and change and got a half pour of Silver Star Bourbon for my trouble :ROFLMAO: :col: - not to mention I got to keep the clay, the tamper, and the pocket jar. If you live in Texas, you owe it to yourself to come to the Texas Pipe Show next year.IMG_9423.jpeg

Smoking Haunted Bookshop in my Dad's Meerschaum. Kieth Fields was the toughest man I ever met, and a good Christian. He worked as a Powerplant supervisor for 35 years in Southern Indiana. This week he passed away and went with God. I love you Dad.
Sorry for your loss! Lost my dad back in 2019. It’s good to know we’ll see them again some day.

I was shocked to see South Carolina go into A & M's field and play them that close. But, if you look at this season, SC, who has only won 3, has played everyone tough as nails.
Could you believe Oklahoma went into Tuscaloosa and beat Bama???
No kidding. I was about to have complete aneurysm at half. I was watching with good friends but I don’t usually share my football with them. They learned some things about my Aggie football obsession

I just finished a wonderful meeting with my Saturday ZOOM pipe buddies, while I smoked my Tim West squat "bulldog" sitter pipe with "Dino's Balkan Blend" mixed in 2021 (McClelland 5100, Syrian Latakia, McClelland Oriental and D&R Yenidje). My beverage was Peach Mango Green Tea with a splash of Honey Jack and a fistful of bergs.
The conversation and camaraderie were, as always, a joy.

So, when I got home, I decided to have some Orlik Flake in a Ranz Morta poker, made by Ron Smith of East Tennessee. Decided that sparkling water was a bit tame, so I had some Knob Creek 9 year old bourbon with a splash of water. Nice combo for contemplation........

That is a really nice looking morta, Mark. Beautiful shape and color combo -- haven't seen that one before. The very top almost resembles having a meerschaum insert, but that's just the carving, right? The bourbon sounds excellent! 🥃 😻

Thank you, Tim.
Yes, it is the carving along with a slight glare from the surrounding light. I went back and looked again and it does look a bit like an insert, but it's all morta. I appreciate the comments.

Relaxing after eating most of an eight by eight casserole dish of freshly made lasagna with a medium size pita bread dinner. Dessert was a small bowl of the last of the strawberry ice cream. I've passed the half way mark of this bowl of year 2014 Dan Tobacco Hamborger Veermaster in a straight smooth brown Algerian briar post-WW2-mid 50s family era Barling’s Make Ye Olde Wood Special 301 T.V.F. Made in England EXEL billiard with a tapered black ebonite stem. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

Daisy the Feral Princess decided to play with socks. Norton the Nosey took a snooze on the pillow, but he was kind enough to open his eyes when I took a couple of pics of him.
