Today it was 2024 Golden Days of Yore. Like a lot of reviewers, I found it a very high quality blend with underwhelming holiday topping notes. I added a second topping mixture and a year later this is a great blend for the holidays. I used a 70’s Comfort brand church warden which I converted to an opera pipe.

As you can see below, winter has finally made its way down to Anchorage. Not much snow or ice, but my local lake is covered with the thinnest crust, roads are slippery and I’m wearing a cap and gloves. Soon my pipe smoking will slow down for the cold months, but I will be lurking here to see what you all are smoking in milder climates.

I've passed the quarter mark of this bowl of year 2014 Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match in a very much appreciated 1979 brown, slight bend grain etched flat front Stanwell Rego 969-48 (09) with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

We decided on a name for the skinny fella. Considering the fact that he was found in a sewer and is curious about everything, Honeymooners fans will understand why his name is Norton the Nosey. :)

I have a name for him, I think. What I don't know is if we will/can keep him. He's a good fella, but like Harry the Hairy, he has no social skills with other cats which is causing some trouble. We're afraid to let him out of the house right now because he doesn't know where he is, and I dunno what would happen if we let him out. He might get hurt by another animal or get lost and not know how to come back to this house. Dunno what to think about it at the moment, but after Abner the Eager disappearing, it's hard deciding on his future.
We have 2 that have often required refereeing due to the younger one's aggressive territoriality. Both rescued off the streets but we've never let them roam outside due to concern about various risks. I know, though, you care for a number of cats and probably wouldn't want a herd living in your house. Heck, city ordinance here caps it at 6 cats.:)

Yes, keeping him will cause some strife between Norton the Nosey and the other cats, especially with Molly Danger. I just posted about him on my Facebook page, and hope to find a good home for him.

Now smoking year 2019 C&D Yorktown in a straight sandblasted black post-1938 (Comoy’s) Made in England Ancestor bulldog with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Haven't smoked this pipe lately, but it's a really good one. Going to check on the ferals after I post this smoke. Norton the Nosey won't like being in the bathroom while they eat, but it makes life easier for the rest of us.

Passing the first third of this bowl of year 2012 Stonehaven in a straight black sandblasted 1957 Barling Exel 249 Fossil T.V.F. black billiard with a silver banded military mount and a black ebonite tapered stem.

The ferals were hungry and as m’lady was still awake, she stayed in the bathroom with Norton the Nosey. Daisy the Feral Princess didn’t eat that much wet food, but Tomato the Brave picked up her slack. Tomato went out as soon as Norton came out of the bathroom. Daisy laid on the floor for a short while, and didn’t seem overly bothered by Norton. I let Harry the Hairy in to eat and Norton followed him. They touched noses, sniffed each other almost without incident. Norton stayed in the kitchen, and Harry seemed very reluctant to eat while Norton was there. I picked up Norton and brought him to the den, but he wanted to go back to the kitchen. M’lady held him so Harry could eat, but I doubt he had more than two or three bites, and then wanted out. Btw, he did bring a small, dead mouse with him.

What surprised me was Molly Danger coming to the den for the first time since Norton came here, and she did not start a fight with him. I’d have bet money against that. Molly stayed on m’lady’s chair where Sleepy Suzy is snoozing’ and just watched the proceedings. She’s bathing herself now.

As I was typing all of this, I heard Daisy banging at the back door. I got Norton out of the way. I put down three different kinds of wet food, but finicky Daisy hardly touched any of them. She’s eating dry food. I went out to look for Harry, but he didn’t answer when I called so he’s gone to wherever else he goes.

Enjoyed a tasty Snap Dragon apple, and am passing the quarter mark of this bowl of year 2014 Sam Gawith Best Brown Flake in a straight smooth brown 1933-1945 Comoy’s patent Grand Slam 159 *4 apple with a tapered black vulcanite stem.

Daisy the Feral Princess finally ate her wet food, and stayed in until a minute or two ago. Molly Danger ate well and is sitting on the top of m'lady's chair. Sleepy Suzy is still on that chair. Harry the Hairy showed up and he ate a little, but he didn't bring a mouse this time, the slacker! :) Once in a while, he'll eat a decent amount of dry food, but most of the time he's a nibbler. I had stay with Norton the Nosey to keep him from bothering Harry. Once again, they touched noses without incident. I do think that Norton wants to get along with the other cats, but if he stays here, that will take some time. M'lady told me that one of her friends has a friend whose cat recently passed away and may be interested in having another one. We'll see how that works out.
