Goes without saying that it would be strange today for a doctor - the leading throat specialist of the time - to have his name associated with pipes and smoking especially when he was writing articles at the time like this one:-

Just finished smoking a first bowl of a cursed Hal O' the Wynd sample provided to me by @musicman.

"Cursed" because the sample just cost me $60 in Rattray's purchases just a few minutes ago.

Can my mailman end up suffering from second hand smoke from all of the tobacco purchases that he keeps having to deliver?

Just finished smoking FVF in a smooth 2002 medium bend eight sided panel top straight grain Rinaldo Collection Silver Line F Egea 05 Titania bulldog with a black acrylic stem. That was a long, rewarding smoke. It's snack time now.

Just finished smoking KBV Yoshimi's Chok Lit Pie Beta Test in a 2016 quarter bend Royal Meerschaum eagle claw egg meer with a black, gold and cream swirl amber colored acrylic tapered stem.

Now smoking C&D Black Frigate in a Guildhall Dublin. Before that, I had some Solani Silver Flake in my new BBB Thorneycroft lovat. This old pipe has had a hard life, but it's still got a lot of love left to give.

Did some snacking and am half way though this bowl of KBV Yoshimi's Hey Wire Beta Test in a 1975 medium bend sandblasted looking, smooth on the sides yellow Pioneer meer with a black ferrule and vulcanite stem in the military mount style.

Gaslight in Peterson POTY 2019 sandblasted. Lat was rather heavy. Haven't had strong English in awhile. But the sweetness of the blend balanced it nicely.
